Over the last 19 years Bomb Hip-Hop's influence and contribution to the promotion of the four elements of hip-hop (dj, mc, breaking, graffiti) is undeniable. Bomb has evolved since it's humble beginnings in 1991 as a hip-hop publication to "one of the fifteen independent labels that matter" according to Rolling Stone. Bombs Return of the DJ series was ranked 25th by Spin Magazine in their The 90 Greatest Albums of the 90s. Having been credited with the revival of the D.J. as an artist in their own right for the Return of the DJ series, featured in the movie Scratch playing on the Sundance channel and available on DVD, the label is also known for spotlighting Hip Hop from around the world. Releases from Bomb Hip-Hop include 50 Full Length Albums, 5 EP's, 15 Singles, 4 Digital Albums, 2 Flexi Discs and one DVD.



Bomb Hip-Hop has produced various Bay Area concerts and club events from the early 90's to the present including the legendary sold out "Bomb" parties at the DNA from '92-'95, the 2003 "Bomb Hip-Hop Tour" in Europe, the "Return of the DJ Tour" in 2003, as well as the 2004 "DJ's & MC's Tour" and the ongoing Prince vs Michael party series. Some of the cutting edge hip-hop artists that have performed at Bomb events include; Kool Keith, Aceyalone, Invisibl Skratch Picklz (Q-Bert, Disk, Shortkut, Mixmaster Mike), Blackalicious, Jurassic 5, Beat Junkies (Rhettmatic, J Rocc, Babu, Melo D), Mystik Journeymen, Supernatural, Volume 10, Schoolly D, Akinyele featuring Rob Swift, Shakey featuring Rahzel, Ultramagmetic MCs, Pete Nice & Daddy Rich, Alkaholiks, Pharcyde, Masta Ace, Freestyle Fellowship, Nas, DJ Craze, Z-Trip, Peanut Butter Wolf, Jazzy Jeff, Dan the Automator, DJ Swamp (Becks dj), J-Zone, Grandwizzard Theodore, DJ Shadow and House of Pain (with B-Real from Cypress Hill).



Dave Paul began his music career in 1984, starting as a mobile dj and evolving into a prominent college radio dj, club dj, and remixer in San Francisco. One of his 45 minute reel-to-reel megamixes was featured on commercial radio station KMEL. During the late 80s and early 90s his weekly radio show "Beat Box Fridays" on college radio station KCSF was instrumental in breaking many hip-hop records in the Bay Area market. Utilizing various pseudonyms Paul has produced records, created the worlds first scratch tool for digital dj's (The Ultimate Scratch CD), and remixed the classic song Cavern by Liquid Liquid (Let's Hear It For the B-Boy Remix) for the UK label Mo Wax. In 1991 he launched the now legendary publication The Bomb Hip-Hop Magazine and in 1995 Paul transformed the magazine into a record label. The company was named "one of the fifteen independent labels that matter" according to Rolling Stone and the labels Return of the DJ series was ranked by Spin Magazine as #25 in their "The 90 Greatest Albums of the 90's" (Sept. 1999 issue), receiving a higher rating than Gold & Platinum albums by Lauryn Hill, Pearl Jam, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Metallica, Green Day and Fatboy Slim. Dave Paul has been featured in URB magazine, XLR8R, appeared on the front cover of Billboard, and is featured in the motion picture Scratch. Mr. Paul has dj'ed throughout the US, toured Europe and the UK, released over 90 projects on his record label and currently produces themed dj parties including the 7 year running Prince vs Michael Experience.
