Magnetar CD _______________________Magnetar 10" vinyl

Ian Mackaye described us as "Excellent madness" in 2005 when we sent him our first record, Brain Candy for Insanity. On that release, we were also described as "a two-man sonic tag team that uses every limb and brain synapse to give us ADD listeners the ultimate in death metal/jazz fusion and alt-rock, served up in 30-second jigsaw shards" (Phoenix New Times). Shane and I navigated the sonic frontier together from 2001 until 2007. In that time we released three limited run D.I.Y. demo e.p.s with hand-made silk-screened artwork; and then in 2005, we upgraded to better studios and recorded 'Brain Candy for Insanity' which was self-released under the moniker Panda Dance Records. In 2006, the 'Magnetar' ep came out just in time for our debut at SxSW in Austin with exclusive hand-made packaging on the then new Arizona-based label Word Up Kid Records. The 10 inch vinyl version of 'Magnetar' found its way to release in 2007 along with our swan song concept album 'Procession of Lost Souls' which was released and followed by a short California tour. We toured pretty extensively over the six years we were playing all across the US and into Canada. Our last album, 'Procession of Lost Souls' landed in June 2007 and is available for hungry ears where ever they may be. The circulation for the new album was pretty lack-luster without a tour to push it, and without our label's support since they are now defunct, but it is a solid record and we are extremely proud of it. I moved to Portland sealing the band's end but we both will always write and play music where-ever we are. I played drums in a then instrumental three-piece called Nanda Devi and appear on the first ep. They have gone on to be a great band since my parting with them and I am friends with them still. I write, record and perform solo material under the name TYPWRYTRS. I also played guitar in a doom band called SABOTEURS OF PROGRESS for a while. After that petered prematurely, I was in another short-lived band called BOOKENDS. The only remaining impact of that band is that I am now playing drums and singing in a two-piece called LASERS FOR EYES with the bassist of BOOKENDS, Josh Beck. In 2006 Shane played in a heavy doom band called LAGOON, with some old friends of his. The project only recorded one demo and played a few shows. Shane has been under the radar musically but has a few projects up his sleeves. Information on those will be posted here when he decides to do so. In the meantime, we have an unreleased b-side we are planning to put up here soon and we like to think that we may play shows together again someday. we broke up because I didn't want to live in Phoenix anymore, not because our relationship or the music has outworn its course. We appreciate the support you all gave us, the floors and couches we slept on, the meals you made us, the shows you set up for us, the partying we did together, the friendships we made, the happiness and the sadness we shared, we appreciate it all. It was an amazing roller-coaster ride of six years passionately lived; of travel, of friendship and of punk rock insanity. AND BY NO MEANS ARE ANY OF US DONE WITH THAT YET!!! ;)
