Bob Montgomery's first musical partner was Buddy Holly. Growing up together in Lubbock, Texasthey were two poor boys who learned to play guitar together, picked cotton to pay for their early demos. Montgomery wrote songs like "Heartbeat", "Down the Line", "Love's Made a Fool of You", "Wishing".

Montgomery moved to Nashville in the early '60's and went on to become of Nashville's top producer'ssoon after he moved to Nashville he wrote songs like "Misty Blue" and Patsy Cline's "Back in Baby's Arms". He went on to produce Bobby Goldsboro's "Watching Scotty Grow" and HoneyGrammy nominated Vern Gosdin, Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, Janie Fricke, Razzy Bailey, Marty Robbins, among others.

His publishing company,House of Gold, published songs like "Wind Beneath My Wings", "Love in the 1st Degree", "Elvira", "She Got the Goldmine and i got the Shaft".and was a learning ground for Nashville luminaries such as Tim Dubois, Van Stephenson, Larry Henley, and Jeff Silbar.

Montgomery is now semi-retired and probably walking on the beach near Noosa, Australia.where he currently resides.
