Blue Heron (CA) is a band that hails from Escondido, California. They are making and playing music for people who have more questions than answers in this life. Through their music, and their connection as a band of friends, they are hoping to bring about a sense of community. They have a belief that all humanity is equal, and have grown so tired of seeing bands that fuel the division between performer and spectator.

As of now, their aspirations are to simply play music for people who are willing to listen. They hope that their music is a catalyst for conversation, and a vehicle for a journey into higher consciousness.

Blue Heron (CA) started as a desire to play the kind of music the members wanted, without the intention of playing in a live atmosphere or even distributing their material. Brandon Ertman found himself driving home, feeling disappointed that all the bands he had previously been involved with had fallen to pieces. After a quick call to Geoff Saba, Blue Heron (CA) had unknowingly started its journey. In the early days, the two played various kinds of music, while bringing in members and leaving others behind. With the addition of Drew Satterlee, their sound traveled through several musical genres, until finally reaching what can be heard today. After the three had completed a handful of various rough recordings, Nate Halda was recruited into the band, replacing Chris Poma who ultimately came back after a short leave. Though their intentions were to not perform, they had decided that shows were a necessity after the release of their first self-titled E.P. With their DIY mindset, and a desire for a sense of community, their shows prove to be more lighthearted and fun than what is expected today. Since then, Blue Heron (CA) has completed an L.P. entitled Tabula Rasa and anticipates a bright musical future.

The band refuses to be treated like a superior force, and genuinely wants to meet as many people as they can, to show their appreciation to fans with an open heart and mind. Even today, they find themselves still asking questions and dealing with the conflict of existence in an impermanent world. This is all expressed throughout their musical coming-of-age novel. For Blue Heron (CA), their work has been nothing less than an effort to strengthen the community through thoughtful music.
