THE STORY

In March 2005, Bletzung’s first single “Only End up Lonely” won the Itunes Jukebox Jury which was held at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas.

After touring throughout Latin America and the U.S., sharing festival stages with the likes of Oasis, Eric Clapton, and Roger Waters among others, the band relocated to Austin in 2006 and within a few months played in an excess of 50 shows at the most important and respected clubs and festivals in the Midwest and West Coast including Antones (Austin), Key Club (Los Angeles), The Emergenza Festival and an appearance with Bryan Adams in their native Puerto Rico.

The video for “Lonely”, produced and edited by the band itself, debuted on Austin's own ME Television where it jumped straight to number one on the network's Top Ten videos on the Sonido Boombox show. At the same time, "Lonely" received airplay on Austin's classic rock radio station, 93.7FM KLBJ, and the newly launched Los Angeles station AM 1580 Indie Mix.

Other TV appearances in FOX News and LATV followed and later that year, the song “Let Go” was included in Disc Makers’ “Independent Music World Series” compilation which showcases the top 15 acts from the Midwest as selected by Billboard Magazine and Taxi (the website) and is distributed to 10,000 industry insiders and professionals.

Fronted by Ignacio Peña and Juan Carlos Bermudo, Bletzung is essentially a melodically driven modern rock band that’s conceived as a multimedia experience.

Cinematic, existential and introspective , the band’s live performances have been called an explosion of images and sounds. This responds to their ability to project images that are taken from a wide popular culture palette and that are musically and thematically in sync with everything that happens on the stage.

The band recently launched the official bletzung video podcast which is available at the normal internet outlets( Youtube , Itunes, My Space, Google) and which connects the band directly with their audience. Completely produced by the band itself , “thebletzungpodcast” is a unique opportunity for the band to further explore the audiovisual aspect of their output .

Bletzung’s self-titled debut album is a conceptual proposal that entwines 12 songs that narrate a process of existential conflicts and which originated in times of worldwide terrorism, war and fear. Produced by Peña, Iker Gastaminza (2 times Grammy award winner also Engineered for Shakira and Ricky Martin) and Tony Rijos, the record features British influenced songwriting with an American approach to recording and making records.

The songs are a powerful marriage of melodically driven strong hooks, and memorable guitar riffs, which exist in a cinematic world of musical textures and connotations, culminating and creating the theme of “impending danger.” Listeners will soon hear the band’s unrelenting philosophy, that melody is king.
