Still, pipes are nothing without lyricism. Recently diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, Blake’s outlook and lyrics have taken on a decidedly new purpose with an added ferocity and greater urgency. Be A Man, Carrington’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, plays soundtrack to perseverance, to prevailing as a better father, husband, brother, son—a better person, and he hopes it inspires others to grow, adapt, and, inspire others.

Blake’s youth was spent in Ohio. His grandparents—two of his biggest and most beloved inspirations—raised him in Kent before he moved to Akron as a teenager. There, he became a teen-star, creating his own group and winning first place in all local talent shows, before relocating to Cali.
Days after moving from the Left Coast to the Big Apple, Carrington had booked several shows, including the famous Amateur Night at the Apollo. Which, he won unanimously.
Soon after, Blake would hook up with Funk Master Flex and earn a spot on his certified-gold Vol. II Mixed Tape (Loud Records), and be featured on Michelob Freestyle. Among other honors, Blake won first place on the Remote Lounge Showcase, earned nominations for Best Male R&B Artist at the International Urban Music Awards and a nod for a Best Male R&B Underground Music Award, and was given the name “Carrington” by his peers on the streets of NYC.

With production from Jim Nice, 2Beats, AL Scratch and Jesse West, Blake independently released his first project, Blake Carrington, The Traveling Man, before following up with The First R&B Street Soul Mixed Tape Vol I, and its successor. While his talent and vocal character have always impressed, Blake grows more mature and offers even more soul with each release
Blake has provided hooks and other vocals for numerous underground artists and his voice has found its way into tracks from Pharoahe Monch, AG Andre the Giant, Greg Nice / Smooth B, Large Professor, Camp Lo, Genard Parker, Jesse West, DJ Premier, and more. While submitting compositions to artists like Michael Jackson, Allure, Bobby Brown and D’Angelo, Blake wrote songs for David Jam Hall production for placement, and would complete production on in-house projects with distinguished producers including Darren Lighty and Eddie F, Kenny Smoove, Lord Finesse, Sean (158) Devereaux, Houston B., Diamond D (of DITC) and DJ Kid Capri—who he would tour with in 2005 and 2006.
To date, he’s shared the stage with, among others, Jagged Edge, Ne-Yo, Keyshia Cole, Akon, Tank, Ludacris, and Ciara.
His attention in crafting lyrics and ability to design rich melodies also make him a clever, creative arranger. He even started his own record label, BTL Music.
But, music isn’t his only realm of expertise.
Ever-ambitious and headstrong, Carrington, also a lifelong healthy living and nutrition activist, began acting, appeared in the movie, “American Gangster” with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, was featured in the movie "Salt" starring Angelina Jolie, sitcom Royal Pain, Good Wife, The Big C (Showtime), Blue Bloods, Lipstick Jungle, Ugly Betty, Law & Order, “Fighting” starring Terrance Howard and several Independent films.
