Blag'ard is a super-energetic and melodic, guitar and drums combo from Chapel Hill, NC. Recently described as a "Chapel Hill-Melvins", Blag'ard is at once punk and powerful, with jaggedly angular guitar, driving drums, and harmonizing vocals. Tough to compare to or stamp a label on, they are the better for it.
Joe Taylor is the singer and guitarist of Blag'ard, and had the same job for Capsize 7 in the mid-nineties. Capsize 7 was a part of the much talked about 90's scene in Chaple Hill which attracted national attention. They were signed to Caroline Records and toured nationally with great bands like Archers of Loaf, Chavez, Silkworm, Hammerhead, and Superdrag. Capsize 7's second LP, the never-before-released "Horsefly", just came out on Joe's label, Pig Zen Space.
Adam Brinson is the drummer and second voice, he joined Blag'ard in 2006 after the release of the EP "Blank Faced Clocks" replacing drummer Bill Buckley. The band has travelled extensively since Adam joined, and has covered a lot of territory both in terms of milage and maturation. Blag'ard practices in the shed behind Adam's house, and have endured two show-downs with the local police.
Blag'ard is getting ready to write and record their third LP, not sitting still having just released "Mach II" last February. Please check out the kind press for "Mach II" on the Blag'ard :: News Page.
Spring of 2010 Blag'ard signed a distribution deal with Redeye Distribution which made Blag'ard's "Mach II", "Bobcat", and "Blank Faced Clocks" (as well as the Capsize 7 release "Horsefly") available at over thirty download websites including iTunes, Amazon, LimeWire, Rhapsody, etc.
Blag'ard would love for you to come see them live: stand up close, and have some fun.

various press:
"Mach II More Like Mach 10" Raleigh Music . Com, by Sue Hardee
"Throughout the album, you’ll hear many hooks that will be impossible
to get out of your head. It also makes for great road trip music as
it would be impossible to NOT feel the energy and adrenaline that
just pours out of this album.Roll down your windows, open your
sunroof, and enjoy."

"5 Words With Blag'ard" The Independent Blog by Corbie Hill
"They’ve recently finished their second album, Mach II. It’s a solid
unit, a catchy if menacing rock record that squeals off the lot like
a muscle car and handles like Luke Skywalker’s X-wing."
Independent Clauses, By Stephen Carradini
"There’s no question as to what Blag’ard set out to do with this
release, and they knock it out of the ballpark. If you like gritty,
raw, untainted rock’n'roll straight outta the garage/Detroit, then
Blag’ard is in your corner."

The Weblog Of Leonard’s Lair
"Together this North Carolina duo offer the lean, macho alternative
to Placebo’s popularised angst. ‘Mach II’ is the commendably taut and
muscular follow-up to 2008’s debut long player ‘Bobcat’."

The Independent 24 FEB 2010 • by Chris Parker
"Drummer Adam Brinson tightens and slackens the tension like a master
angler reeling in Taylor's rollercoaster riffs, which still feel like
détente between Archers of Loaf's silky churn and Jawbox's martial
slash. That's the sound of Blag'ard's jagged smile, glinting with
charm until it finally bites."
The Daily Tar Heel, Linnie Greene
"On Mach II, the Chapel Hill duo has crafted a set of anthemic,
anarchic songs that recall the hard-rocking garage greats."
"Blag’ard asserts its old-school roots with a big middle finger to
indie fads."
".these riotous, relentlessly furious tracks that make the album
worth its weight in garage rock gold."
Punkglobe.com by Ginger Coyote
"Joe Taylor is best known for his ability to play crunchy, and very
catchy guitar riffs He only excels what he does best on this CD
Drummer Adam Brinson holds down his end with much skill The songs
are infectious and leave you wanting more."
Palabra Y Sonido/Word And Sound
"Buena sorpresa el poder oir esta banda, acabo de recibir el disco
hace un par de dias y no lo paro de oir.Totalmente recomendable
este lanzamiento."
