DESCRIPTION:
A 5 - 9 member band, depending on the day. banjo, accordion, guitars, bass drums, percussion, keybored, and for a time, violin and the bagpipes. Most members yelled backing vocals, while the growling captain commanded the ship and made the audience thrash and sweat with authoritah. Started by the Captain, R.Tarantino, K.Amdal, Raw-B and Joe-Lo in the desert oasis of Carson City, NV around 1998, Scurvy Bastards thrived until the end of 2003. There were many, many floor-breaking shows, some at a small record store run by the Captain, as well as loads of performances in CA, NV, OR, and WA. Some noteworthy dates included playing with: Phantom Limbs, Against Me, Pere Ubu, Wesley Willis (rip), Phenomenauts, Electric eye, Real Mckenzies, Mermen, Teenage Harlots, mcGOB reunion show, Holy Ghost Revival, BloodHag, the Briefs, the Town Dandies, and our old pals, Iron Lung. Scurvy Bastards live shows were always out of control::::::: The Captain made everyone join in while the Bastards rocked. F-N Bedlam, me says! A number of songs appeared on compilations, a couple of 7"s, a VHS, with the Slovenly label releasing the 1st full-length album "Battle Born"in 2002. The "PIRANTHOLOGY" cd captures the 2003 studio recordings, re-recorded versions and some live attempts, Get a copy and upload as many songs as ye' wish - send it to people you dont know, or to those who love SCARY PIRATE BANDS!. Scurvy Bastards played original pirate compositions, tweaked them, and rocking with dirtied-out-desert punk overtones, sometimes too spooky to be understood. The Bastards ruled the western desert sea-beds, and remain the dirtiest pirates re:?no! will ever see. SCURVY BASTARD musick going o'er board fills my darkheart with glee.
