"I’ve never heard these guys before but I am now totally consumed by them. They play true rock with rawness, intensity and a hint of ‘60s psychedelia/electronica. Whilst musical stuntman Todd Pickett head bangs his keyboard and performs an aerobic workout, frontman James Sherry sings us stories of truth and depth. Sherry is an amazing songwriter, his lyrics leave clichs behind and are on to something interesting and new."
Carley Hall - myvisiontv.com.au

"This is an incredibly accomplished seven-track release. The production on it, recorded in a North Perth house, is simply fantastic. Opener The Nanosecond is a fit of scorching songwriting of the highest calibre. Cliches are not to be found here. Second track Maya starts as a melodic dreamy ditty that works up to a crescendo during the first chorus before settling back into it's groove nicely and building again slowly. Pythia moves into a more experimental arrangement before the rock comes back. Blackmilk have out-done themselves and created a wonderfully lush rock mini-album here."
Jason Kenny
DRUM MEDIA

"The results are superb. Not only does each song have a wealth of sonic richness, the songs themselves are varied and interesting - and then interestingly ordered so as to give Light Body a real sense of it being a living, breathing organism."

"Maya is a standout track, wrapping the listener in multicoloured layers of dreamy guitar noise. The verse floats, the chorus swells - the overall effect is intoxicating.
While every track on this EP is a unique experience, there's a certain spacey motif that ties the whole record together nicely - the lyrics are suitably esoteric, adding weight to this feeling."

SPACESHIP NEWS

Forming in the hills of Perth, Blackmilk are walking a trail to light the multicoloured spark inside your imagination. With a dose of psychedelia and a wall of sound intensity their music often wanders into the harmonious territories of layered vocals and a breathing landscape of noise.
The sonic sounds which the tracks lie on work hand in hand with the soulful songwriting of James Sherry emphasising the fact that yes, we are floating in space.
Blackmilk have supported bands such as The Dandy Warhols and toured the country a number of times, with their debut album due for release early 2011. The first single off the album 'Mercy Ray' will be hitting the airwaves in November.

"When it’s done well, as it is with Blackmilk, psychedelic rock can be hypnotizing. As over used as the phrase is, Blackmilk created a wall of sound."
XPRESS MAGAZINE - MAY 2009

"Lights were turned off, leaving the room dark enough to compliment for the next act of the night - Blackmilk. Introducing their set with a fantastic energetic, intense opening - another land of blues, rock and a hint of electronica was unleashed."
