BLACKGOAT formed in 1999. Determined to ignore trends and forge their own brand of ferocious metal, they have drawn equally from elements of black, doom, death and thrash metal to deliver a face-melting blend of unique and classic musical warfare.

The core of BLACKGOAT is comprised of Robert Day (Guitar, Vocals, Bass) and Curran Evans (Drums). Though the band has gone through a few line-up shifts over the years, the classic and best-known incarnation has always featured these two. Mitch Mock has been the group's live bass player since 2004.

In 2000 BLACKGOAT recorded and released their self-titled debut on cassette. It was remixed and remastered for release on CD in 2001. A relatively short album, it nonetheless packs a fierce punch. Tracks like "Tyrannical Regression", "100,000 Pentagrams" and "Blackgoat" remain in the live set to this day.

In 2003 BLACKGOAT released their second album,"By Unseen Forces", a true metal masterpiece in every sense. Featuring "Into Black Winter", "By Unseen Forces" and "Using The Demon", this majestic slab of aggression earned critical praise from several worldwide metal sources such as Metal Maniacs and Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles among others.

"By Unseen Forces" marked the turning point when BLACKGOAT decided to record as a two piece. Various obstacles had presented themselves, and this period ('04-'06) was marked by several changes in the line-up. Interestingly, the group was able to remain very active on the live circuit during this time, playing high profile shows with the likes of Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Pungent Stench, Behemoth, Incantation, Sadus, Death Angel, and Nevermore, among others, and did a few mini-tours.

By 2006, BLACKGOAT was a force to be reckoned with. Having settled on the powerful 3-piece juggernaut of Day, Evans, and Mock, the band seemed destined for the next level. In mid-2006, BLACKGOAT was poised to sign with a label. Unfortunately, personal hardships sidelined the band at this critical juncture. Misfortune forced the mighty entity of BLACKGOAT to be put on ice.

For the better part of three years the band members pursued other projects while the dust settled. Finally, the stars aligned, and the dark gods smiled on BLACKGOAT once again, demanding their full attention in the name of all things METAL.

Refining and improving some material written before the hiatus, and writing even stronger, fresh material, BLACKGOAT essentially became an angry giant wakened after a too long a slumber. They returned to the stage in August 2009, performing both old and new classic material. It was a welcome ressurection.

BLACKGOAT have just recorded their long-awaited follow-up album and are ready to reclaim their rightful place among the underground metal elite. They are seeking a record deal for its release and distribution (INTERESTED PARTIES- PLEASE CONTACT THE BAND!) and have vowed to continue writing, recording and performing (regardless of the state of the badly damaged music industry) whether signed or unsigned.

You are implored, encouraged, (DEMANDED!) to seek out and experience BLACKGOAT live or on record. Bloodied but unbowed, these metal warriors live for their craft and will not be ignored. Heed the call and obey. Worship at the altar of BLACKGOAT! This profile was edited with MySpace Profile EditorMySpaceProfile Editor
