+ Black Bart formed for a one-off performance in early 2004 and since then have gained a following playing frequent local shows, then moving further afield.

The band met at a theatre group and bonded quickly into a tight musical unit, whose ability to deliver authentic and original sounds belies their youth. A certain element of their theatrical background has carried over into live performance. Simon is an accomplished front-man, at once commanding and sensitive. He delivers his vocals with enthralling conviction. His infallible technique never undermines his ability to convey emotional intensity.

Sam's responsive drumming and Pete's fluid basslines weave together seamlessly to provide a bed of sound, allowing Rob to infuse the music with his own brand of pounding riffs, smouldering refrains and quiet attention to melody.

Live, the confidence Black Bart exude drives home the passion for their music. You would be forgiven in thinking that the band has been doing this for decades, but their urgent intensity portrays a group with an unshakeable faith in their ability to deliver something fresh and unique.

These qualities guarantee an engaging, captivating performance. The Talking Heads in Southampton recognised this, awarding the band Best of 2006 in their annual Battle of the Bands competition. Further recognition of the band's appeal includes the broadcast of the song Small Town Folk from their first EP - Still Looks the Same - on BBC Radio One and a week of nightly live sessions on local radio station The Saint FM.

Since then several other local radio appearances and nationwide festival slots and supporting such acclaimed artists as Seasick Steve and Eugene 'Hideaway' Bridges have further widened the bands fanbase and appeal.
