Although he started off writing poetry, he came to be one of the most over looked rappers in Louisiana.

Born in South Carolina in 1980, Big Bandit(born Brian Anthony Ruffin), he move to and grew up in rural areas on the west side of Baton Rouge called Rougon and Erwinville. He came up with a heavilly influenced musical background. "My grandma was in the choir, mama was in the choir, and aunties was in the choir, but i couldn't sing worth the fuck, ya heard me? So i jus looked to do music in my own way, ya know wut i'm sayin?"

By the time Bandit made 12, he had already wrote his first rap song, but no one really knew of his talent until he made 15. That was when he spread the word to two of his hometown friends J-von and Max Minelli, who are also part of the Baton Rouge rap group the Concentration Camp. "Them niggas schooled me right then and there with as much as they could 'cause they was rushin' to get to da studio at da time and i was still in school and Debra(my mama) didn't play dat shit wit school, ya dig?"

So, time passe on and hard times came with it. "It was a lotta bullshit i went through before i hit the studio for the first time. A lotta my niggaz was gettin killed, dyin in car crashes, gettin locked up and i knew that i didn't wanna end up like that." So when Bandit finished high school in '99, he went straight to the studio and recorded a song called "I Never Did Care" with hometown friend Lil' Fire, which gained a lotta attention in and outside of Erwinville. "The first time we peformed that song, it was at my old high school. The ladies was lovin it, and that's when them niggas started hatin'. That's when i knew i had to be doin something write, so i kept grindin."

"So time passed, and I started a group called the Bayou Boyz, consisting of myself, Lil Fire(from West B.R.), and my lil cousin Lil Ezy (from Dixie) and we were in affiliation with a small label called Konetic Groove Records. After a falling out with Lil Fire, we picked up four more members. Big Blaze and Hatchboy(who were known as A.B.M at the time), Yung Co,all from Glen Oaks, and D$G(from south side B.R.) had all joined the group. We all made our debut on A.B.M's World Domination(2002/Konetic Groove Records)and then began work on Tha' Blackout."

After an argument erupted between members, da group disbanded. "That's when i got my grind on. Since i didn't have enough bread to do a full album, i put together my first mixtape called "West Side of Dat Big Raggedy"(05/06)

and gained attention of the song Hey Dj."

In 2007, he released his second mixtape, Westside Certified, which featured underground hard hitters In Da Paint, Gametime, Keep On Pushin', Fuck Wit Me, and Let'em Know".

Now, Big Bandit is in the works of recordin his debut album "This Iz 4 Whoeva". "I wanted a April or May release, but i'm not sure. It still could happen, but i wanna take my time with it cuz i wanna come hard my first time out and have deez niggaz head hurtin, ya dig?" If you ever saw me perform before, you would see i put my heart in this shit.
