DESCRIPTION:
Raw Concrete is a love letter to the Brutalist architecture in and around Boston, Massachusetts. Iconic sites such as Boston City Hall, the Carpenter Center for the Arts, and Christian Science Plaza are all subjects and objects of the piece.
Combining live electronics, video projection, and field recordings from the buildings themselves, Raw Concrete applies the controversial aesthetic tactics of Brutalism to the audiovisual realm. Sounds and images "as found" and coarse honesty in construction are of the utmost importance, without concession to traditional form or beauty.
