Let's go back to the early days. Benn Lian (aka Joris Biesmans) was born on the 13th December 1983 in Hasselt, Belgium. At the early age of 13, he was already intrigued by the scene and together with his big brother he opened a small and cosy club were they threw intimate parties for friends & family. Armed with a second-hand mixer, a tape deck and two old cd-players Benn took charge of the music and he immediately lost his heart to the 4/4 beat.
As the years passed, Benn searched for his own musical identity and started to develop his own and unique style of music. This ‘identity’ got him noticed by some very influential people in the club scene and in no time he was playing in both small and big clubs all over the country. But Belgium wasn’t enough. He aimed for international fame with some great gigs in The Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Ibiza, Thailand and even Tokyo Japan. Over the years he rocked not only clubs, but also large parties and festivals with his infamous dance floor attacks!
However, playing other people’s tracks wasn’t enough for Benn Lian. With his keen sense of music it didn’t take long before he started to produce his own songs as well. At first this was just for fun, but as we all now practice makes perfect and after years of intensive studio time, his productions began to sound better and better. Benn decided it was time to take things to the next level and invested in his own studio. This was a logical but very crucial step in his career as a dj/producer. As his productions became more professional, more and more people picked up his tracks and the first record deal was soon to be made.
Nowadays you can find Benn playing in his home country and far beyond. When he’s not busy touring, you’ll probably find him in his studio, working on new tracks and remixes, and trying to innovate his music and improve his techniques even more. He has released several tracks/remixes on such imprints as Affin (Germany), Rebirth (Italy), Iconise (UK), Coincedence (Belgium),. and his tunes are played and charted by some of the biggest players in the scene like: Tom Pooks, Laurent Garnier, Gregor Tresher, Gel Abril, Joachim Spieth, Tim Green, Nudisco. Just to name few!
It’s safe to say Benn Lian has become quite the experienced dj as well as producer who has proven to be endowed with an extraordinary sense for music in a very broad musical spectrum.
