"Ben Connelly is one of the best songwriters in the Midwest" -Minnesota Public Radio

"That intimacy, jagged and raw at times, is what sets Connelly apart from the typical singer-songwriter strumming an acoustic guitar. His music is brutally honest and beautiful, sobering yet liberating." -City Pages

"an impeccable collection of stripped down and heartfelt murmurs" - Duluth Budgeteer News

"I'm Through Wasting My Life" is on the playlist at the Current 89.3FM Minneapolis, call and request! Also added at several other stations across the U.S.

What people said about previous records:

Packed with a lethal dose of charm.a heaping helping of sweetness, sorrow, spirituality and lust channeled through a well-worn heart.

-St. Paul Pioneer Press, MN

After the first lines I was sold Connelly writes songs that glow after repeated listens. -Chicago Daily Herald, IL

A melancholy tribute to a backwards life. Connellys smart humor shines through.

-Dayton City Paper, OH

blessed with urgent musicianship, passionate vocals, entertainingly off-kilter compositions, and an overall feeling of immediacy.

-Nashville Scene, TN

The incisive humor doesnt overpower Connellys bright songwriting or able guitar.

-Performing Songwriter Magazine

“Connelly captures a sense of longing and moral struggle that’s universally human. Seeing yourself in this likely unfamiliar character is a profound and humbling experience.”

-Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine

minimal and whimsical aching heart songs

-Washington Post, D.C.

will charm the pants off of you.

-Minnesota Daily, MN

Connelly spent the nineties investigating clubs, studios, and late night parties in South Minneapolis and across the Eastern half of the United States with his rock band Steeplejack, who put out one full length and three EPs for a variety of record labels. His solo albums "Big Red Throbbing Heart" and "You Burn Hotter" launched his solo career in the noughties. His songs have appeared on college, commercial, and public radio, as well as national television and theatre and film productions. Live he transports audiences across the northern Midwest and East coast with what Minneapolis's City Pages describe as "furious finger-picking and top-notch tunes."
