C'est à La Havane que l'histoire de BATAZO a commencé, au 213 de la rue Principe, chez Rodolfo ARROZARENA, Docteur de son état, mais aussi compositeur né.
Lorsqu'Alessandro Nivola entend ces chansons aux paroles typiquement cubaines, il est conquis. L'amour, la joie, la danse …toutes ces petites choses qui font le charme de La Havane !
Avec en plus des mélodies « que pegen », qui collent, il comprend qu'il a trouvé le répertoire qu'il cherchait.
Les chansons sont là, et c'est Roberto Linares Brown , musicien et arrangeur de l'orchestre d'Adalberto Alvarez, Nelson Nieto et Maikel Garcia qui donnent toute l'énergie nécessaire à ce Son contemporain.
C'est à son retour en France en 2001 que l'aventure continue. Menés par Alessandro, les musiciens de BATAZO démontrent la maitrise de leur instrument face à des arrangements exigeants taillés sur mesure, du Bolero langoureux à la Timba déchainée actuelle.
L'originalité de BATAZO vient donc de son répertoire composé de créations, mais aussi de thèmes ré-arrangées de Los Van-Van, Tito Rodriguez, Beny More, Conjunto Los Latinos, Adalberto alvarez.
Egalement des compositions de Arensidio Sarmiento s'ajoutent au répertoire qui prend des saveurs « d'Oriente » (sous-entendez de Santiago de cuba.)
L'amour que porte ces musiciens expérimentés à la musique cubaine, submerge le public et le transporte irrémédiablement dans la chaleur des Caraibes: A BAILAR !!!
The Story of BATAZO started in La Havana,
at 312 Principe St. at the house of Rodolfo Arrozarena, who was a doctor and a music composer. He is the author of the most part of Batazo's themes, of its beautiful songs who told quite a story. All these is revealed by the percussion's cadences and the brass's power, written by Roberto Linares, who is a member and arranger of Adalberto Alvarez's orchestra, together with Nelson Nieto and Mikael Garcia. In addition, Rolando Vergara, a figure of the Trova Cubana, also participated in the project, writing five songs.
The originality of BATAZO lies not only in its repertoire, composed of works and mystic themes like those of Van-Van or of Tito Rodriguez, but also comes from its own formula: three percussions, piano, bass, two trombones, two trumpets and two singers who make the show! So that, we can appreciate the love this musicians have for the world of Cuban music, and the personal touch they add to it.
Their Objective: to share this passion with that from the public, and make them dance
