The Rock Gods, long tired of the countless metal core bands comprised of angsty suburbanite weiners and the mounds of fluff-rock being played on commercial radio, summoned ancient spirits to be reincarnated in the form of five young men. A band not only diverse in their musical taste, but also their work backgrounds; blue collar, white collar, pink collar, they’ve got them all. Since early 2007, Balls Out Face First, otherwise known as BOFF! (as much a tribute to comic-book nerddom as it is initials) has been grabbing the Alberta underground punk scene by the balls and reminding it that rock ‘n roll is alive, well, and ready to punch you in the mouth. Despite being involved in the punk community, BOFF! doesn’t feel restricted to any one label or genre, instead embracing aspects of ‘77 punk and Oi!, garage rock, blues, all eras of rock ‘n roll, and hints of old country. This is well reflected on their debut “Bobcat Crisis" EP, released by Beer Belly Records in June of 2008. Along with getting airplay on local Edmonton University station CJSR, the reach of BOFF’s grasp has been further extended by their 2008 Western Canadian tour. Having shared the stage with the likes of Canadian heroes the Ripcordz, the Rebel Spell, and the Unwanted, as well as American acts such as Society’s Parasites and the legendary skinhead hardcore pioneers Iron Cross, BOFF! has been quickly building their reputation as a balls out, no bullshit rock ‘n roll presence.
