>>Bahooga, [Ba • huh • ga], the.

A small, black and white feathered bird from the south Brazilian deserts, a close relative to the north American Bigbird. The Bahooga is a cheery little animal, whose diet consist mostly of meat and malted liquors. In the language of the south Brazilian pygmies, “Bahooga” means “Little feathered critter that shouldn't drink that much."<<

The upper paragraph is plain nonsense, but thanks for reading anyway.

Bahooga started out as a seven-piece from the region of Krefeld, Germany, back in 2004. Their music style is some sort of Ska, though you can find influences from all kinds of music in their tunes. Be it “classical” Twotone or some storming Punkrock, as long as people like it, the guys are going to play it.

For their stage debut they produced a 7-track EP called „… Before I Crash“ and pressed 100 CDs. The location for the debut gig was completely packed and stacked with people being curios about Bahooga, the first 100 CDs were nearly sold out within days.

Having recorded their 15-song Album "Shake Your Banana" in 2006 the band went on playing venues from Hamburg to Erfurt, from Bremen to Koblenz and from Mönchengladbach to Paderborn, with additional gigs at local clubs and festivals, as well as somewhat exotic shows at random folk music fests.

By now the band has played loads of shows, collecting live-expierience across the country and increasing their energetic appearance even more.

Closing in on 2010 the guys took one step further by recording their long awaited second longplayer called "Lekker Lala" in Krefeld's EZY Soundz Studios. Their latest creation gives a detailed picture of where the band now stands: 18 tracks of catchy brass tunes, stirring singalong parts, and offbeats galore mark their diverse sound which keeps them rocking out more than ever.

With recently added keyboard player Michael, thus making them an eight-piece combo, Bahooga heralds a new era of the band's history, giving them the opportunity to both revisit their previous songs as well as getting on with writing new ones to take off for the future.

Bahooga delight with eagerness to play and some good portion of stage presence, with hooky songs and melodies that find their way in to the listener’s ear. Danceable but significant, because good times are always important.

Apart from a hype about always deeper tuned guitars, the Seven do their own Ska-thing. And success supports their intention, as Bahooga continue to enter stages restlessly - maybe even somewhere near you.
