Katia, professionally known as BabyKat, comes to the music industry like a breath of fresh air. Her sound is sensual, unique, and exotic. Her self-titled debut album is power-packed with hit song after hit song, a production formula that is missing from many of today’s recording projects. Her debut album has songs that will sizzle on dance floors across the country as well as ignite social awareness about the female perspective on sensuality and feminism.

Born on the beautiful island of Haiti, Katia and her family relocated to Montreal, Canada where she grew up and began to pursue her musical career. Her father is a singer/songwriter, drummer, guitarist and her mother is a soprano/alto gospel singer. She grew up in band rehearsal rooms and on stage, Katia had no choice but to follow in her talented parents musical footsteps. BabyKat penned her first song at the age of nine, started performing at the age of twelve and has not stopped ever since.

BabyKat’s musical influences ranges from French classics to soulful R&B, and from world beat to reggae music. Signers like Ella Fitzgerald, Sade, Marvin Gaye, Brian McKnight, Bob Marley, and Lauryn Hill (just to name a few) are sources of her creative inspiration. BabyKat’s first big break came when she met Wyclef Jean. It was then that she co-wrote the Grammy nominated song “911” performed by Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige.

BabyKat and HeavyTone’s CEO Kevin Myers teamed up with superstar producer Salaam Remi to create the project’s lead single entitled “Get It Started” a melodic, sexy dancehall influenced jam that is already creating massive waves throughout the Caribbean. Katia’s angelic sultry voice, combined with Remi’s raw edge Caribbean rhythms is a match made in Heaven.

Now signed to HeavyTone Records she is finally home and ready to get her career started. The head of her label Kevin Myers is exited and committed to bringing BabyKat’s album to great heights, which is a dream that Katia has been seeking ever since she was a little girl.
