Founded in 1994, Babel Label focuses on imaginative music on the whole from London, and mainly jazz but interpreted in the broadest terms. Babel now has over 60 releases by the likes of Acoustic Ladyland, Polar Bear, Tom Arthurs, Billy Jenkins, Christine Tobin, Partisans, Huw Warren, Phil Robson and in the last couple of years has released albums by singer Paula Rae Gibson, Big Air, hot new bands Fraud, Outhouse, new Mercury prize nominees Led Bib, last year's Portico Quartet in association with the Vortex Club label offshoot and in 2009 released the debuts from ZED-U and (soon!) trioVD. There's a vibrant scene coming out of London and the rest of the UK, and Babel are proud to chronicle some of the best of it.
