Ayak is an artist quite unlike any other. Standing at 6ft tall she is truely colosal is size and sound. Born in March 1983 Southern Sudanese born & South London raised, Ayak & family immagrated to England in 1984 at the very start of the Sudanese civil war. A refugee by status, Ayak sort refuge in music, giving her first performance at a nursery school assembly aged four years old. Ayak then joined her church choir and at ten pened her first song, knowing the seed of music in all its forms was indelabley sown within her. Looking for a means to showcase her talent, & after a few years of doing the 'circuit' Ayak landed a recording deal with Stereo Wonderland/polydor in Germany. Where she released an two singles & subsequently her debut offering entitled ' Voices in my head'. The album much support, thus leading to Ayak being invited to play the SWR3 New Pop Festival (infamous for introducing acts such as Alanis Morrisette, Anastacia, & Macy Gray to the European public) Ayak toured Germany, performing to crowds of 50,000, and also performing alongside Blue, Mel C, and 50 cent. Soon after securing herself a live performance on the respected music show Top of the Pops. 2003 saw the launch of Beck Gold, made by the internationally known (German beer manufacterers) Becks & I the summer of 2003 Ayak became the new voice of Becks, taking over the reigns from Joe Cocker. Following the Becks campaign Ayak recorded a track with Stuttgarts Dj Thomilla of Turntable rocker. A little over 6 months later the track titled 'Freaky girl' would go on to be the first single off of Thomilla debut album 'Freeze' & number one on the German Dance chart. As a singer/songwriter/producer/rapper/ (who is know to beatbox on occassion) Ayaks talents were further tested in the German film 'Geschlecht Weiblich' where Ayak featured in her first film (cameo) role. Ayak also penned the films title track ' Patiently waiting. However with all her achievments, Ayak parted ways with Stereo wonderland & headed back to London to enter the next phase. After regrouping, Ayak released the heavyweight U.K rinse out which was 'Drop the Dup' on a white label (produced by Waynw'Tatz' Beckford & co-written by Lousie Francis) at the end of 2003. Immediately achieving airplay across pirate & commercial stations, gaining support from Kiss Fm's Firing Squad (making it 'smooth grooves' track of the week) And gaining massive support from BBC 1Xtra's Heartless crew. By early 2004 & fresh from her New York writing session with 'Krucial Keys' writer & producers Kerry'Krucial' Brothers & L. Green Ayak Entered the final for the first Princes Trust Urban Music Festival. She stormed to victory landing herself the a coverted spot on the bill headlined by none other then Alicia Keys & Urban musics royalty Jay-Z & Beyonce Knowles at Londons Earls court. Ayak gave an incredible performance which lead to invitation to perform again the second year running at 2005's Urban music festivalgaining her a core fanbase of U.K Dj's & urban music journalists. This paved the way for interview requests, reviews and support from the likes of The Face, Touch, Tense, RWD, Mixmag, Dj Magazine, BBC 1xtra, Kiss FM's Shortee Blitz, Big Ted,Choice Fm's Dave VJ Emma Feline, Ace & invisible & Elle J small, Ras Kwame & numerous Pirate stations to name but a few. With that, Ayaks work extends to the dance music genre in which she works closely with International Dj's Milk & Suger.Ayak encaptures everything an artist should be, from her soaring vocals , supremely infectious toplines writing/melodies, to her undefinable stage presence that outnumbers her years.
