The self-proclaimed “Tennessee Slugga” hails from the college town of Murfreesboro, TN or M.B.T., just 30 miles east of Nashville. Gearing up for his forthcoming album “The Tennessee Slugga”, Axtion has been on a promotional whirlwind, rocking shows across the southern and Midwest regions, and heating up mixtapes across the globe. His electrifying live show wins fans over from 5 to 50. Whether performing for 5 or 5,000 he likes to make sure his audience is fulfilled.

Axtion has a charismatic delivery that drips in style and swagger. The Tennessee Slugga considers himself a soul food rapper. His creative process is a slow simmer. He pays attention to detail and tries to insure that his songs are well crafted. When asked to describe his music, he labels it “mood music”. When he’s happy he doesn’t have a problem singing a hook that may be considered pop. And when he’s angry you may get a track like “Headbussa”. When he’s stressed or drained, you may get a “Keep on Pushin”. Axtion says he simply enjoys being himself on the mic and considers music his therapy.

Axtion began penning lyrics at age 12. He was inspired by artists like 2Pac’s ability to manipulate emotions with words. Axtion learned to format songs by rewinding tapes like “Me Against the Word” for hours, writing the lyrics down word for word. Writing lyrics gave Axtion a platform to vent on his growing frustrations of being an impoverished youth. Being the oldest of 13 children had its stresses, and music was his escape. His talent blossomed quickly and soon was noticed by local concert promoters, Mastermind Music. They took him under their wing and placed him on their events all across the Southeast. At age 14, Axtion was developing his live show rocking stadiums, step shows, and

Nightclubs. Teaming with Junior High Classmate “FOCUS”, Axtion tasted success as a member of the Manopoly Records’ crew MHR (Manopoly High Rollers). Utilizing the internet, the teenage crew received rave reviews and dominated the charts at sites like MP3.Com. Axtion’s track “Headbussa” even held the 1 spot down on the Dirty South Charts for a few weeks.

In 2004 Axtion launched his own record label, Young Island Entertainment with the release of his first solo LP, “From the Ground Up”. He then followed up in 2007 with “GET MONEY”. To cut down the expenses of his label and add to his revenue, Axtion began taking up music production, graphic design, and even engineering. In fact, both the “Get Money” and “From the Ground Up” albums feature his production and engineering. Liking the sound of his recordings, other independent artists lined up to get production and studio time from Axtion.

With his guest appearances and production credits piling up, many are anticipating the “Tennessee Slugga” album. Axtion hasn’t set a date yet and doesn’t plan on releasing the album until it fits his idea of Perfection. For the Fans that cant get enough of hit songs like “GHETTO SUPERSTAR” AND “RUBBER BAND MONEY”, be on the lookout for the Axtion edition of the hit mixtape series COME UP MOVE coming out the Summer of 2008.
