It all started in 2000 when Mike and Vinnie’s previous band went their separate ways. They both knew what direction they wanted to go in and went to work quickly. After a previous line-up that didn’t work out, they sought a new singer that would take them in the right direction. That’s when Jack stepped in and took over on the mic. They needed someone that could write lyrics from the heart and melodies that made you want to sing. They gave Jack a song and he came back with something that made both of them know, he was the guy. Then they got news there drummer was leaving. From there, they set out to find a drummer who played hard but knew when not to, if you know what I mean. So while Mike Marino was driving a cab for some extra cash, he ran into the cousin of a drummer he had previously played with. That’s all it took to make him realize who they needed to fill that vacant spot. The rest is history. Mike Betkowski (aka Mikey B) was now officially the drummer of Avenue F. The line-up was complete.

Since then, AF has developed a steady local following playing their brand of catchy rock and roll. They have played all over the tri-state area, including some of the best venues that support unsigned bands. Their music combines old and new rock sounds with unforgettable lyrics; a winning combination. With undeniably in your face music and catchy lyrics/melodies, their songs share stories of dysfunctional families, heart-breaking relationships and the language we all understand, LIFE!

Avenue F recorded their self-titled 10 track CD at a small hole-in-the-wall 8-track studio in their hometown of Bayonne. Although they recorded each of the songs live without the benefits of a truly professional studio in only 1 to 2 takes, the CD struck a chord with their fans and thus exposing the band to the public and helping the boys to gain a few but faithful following. In the summer of 2004, they released a 3 song EP which got great reviews. But after that release, they weren’t sure what musical direction they were headed in. From there, they just bounced around playing local gigs and writing new songs. Their future was uncertain at that point, but would eventually take shape with the new songs they were creating.

After a few years of writing, their latest effort, “Tales From The Garage”, was born. It showcases a tighter, more confident band. These are songs that anyone can identify with; from the Upbeat “Social Outcast” and “Sucks To Be You” to the hard-hitting “Three Times Over” and “SUM.” They even recorded a cover of the mega-hit “I Got You” from 80’s sensation, Split Enz. Their music has something for everyone to enjoy. You can currently find their new release for sale at CDBaby.com, local music stores and many download sites; such as MySpace.com, Digstation.com and more to come.

The boys have also gotten many great reviews from various music sites dedicated to unsigned acts. The band is in pre-production for their third CD, scheduled to be released, 2011.

The bottom line is; AVENUE F will undoubtedly leave their mark on the music world; somehow, someway. Such big dreams for a small town band, but once you listen, you’ll see why.
