In the early 90's the artist then known as Taura Stinson formed a group called Emage in her pseudo hometown of Oakland, California. Soon after the group was formed, they signed to One Love/Mercury records. The ladies of Emage headed to NYC to record their debut album with the then popular hip-hop duo Black Sheep, but while recording, Taura continued to co-write with local producers, as she did back in Oakland. The album was released with little fan fare, but Taura co-wrote a song called Gansta Lean that became a multi-platinum selling hit. Upon her return to the Bay, she continued to pursue a career as an solo artist and songwriter after Emage disbanded. She also kept her busy with spoken word and vocal performances. She split her time between her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama and the Bay Area, where she cultivated her skills by co-writing with Dwayne Wiggins of the band TonyToniTone. In 1995, she landed a cover on the debut album for the then unknown group "Destiny's Child entitled "Killing Time, which was also featured on The Men In Black Soundtrack. This song sold more than seven million copies world wide. At the first D.C session, she met her future husband Alonzo Jackson, an extraordinary producer, and artist developer who is most notable for developing Destiny's Child. A few months later she placed a song on Lisa Stansfield called I'm Leaving which was number 1 on the Billboard Dance charts. When she and Alonzo were married in 1997, she became Taura Jackson, and they moved to Atlanta where she collaborated with artist like Outkast, Chante Moore, Pink, Deborah Cox and countless others. It was then that she realized that she was hearing the call of the stage and the roar of the audience. She had a desire to write, record and perform Life Music, which she describes as songs about love, loss, egos, triumphs and everything in between. She then made a conscious decision to drop the T from her name, thus revealing her true Aura. After becoming who she was truly destined to be, Aura landed a deal with a major record company and returned to the west coast to record a phenomenal album that featured production and/or features by Alonzo Jackson, Tommy Lee, Kanye West, Outkast, Raphael Saadiq, Jake and The Phat Man, Jamie Foxx and Destiny'sChild, but unfortunately the company was gun shy and did not push the envelope with an artist like Aura, but fortunate are those that experience her eclectic style, but she did not let that stop her.

Aura lives in the Los Angeles with her husband Alonzo Jackson. She works as a Personal manager for recording artist Nikki Grier and fashionmista Dwen Curry. She is also a vocal coach for aspiring singers and vocal producer for established vocalist including but not limited to Aftermath Records, Paris Hilton, Whiskey Slew Productions (Raphael Saadiq's production company) and countless others.
