A Broad Connection (2005)

.Or Does It Explode? (2003)

In the summer of 2003, Oakland based Audio Out Send released its first full-length album, ".or Does it Explode?" For the group, the album marked a culmination of two and a half years of living and writing. The music of ".or Does it Explode?" ranges from fragile and scattered to dynamic and lush. A full, layered sound flows smoothly between destinations, with a variety of instrumental arrangemnets. Though not always direct in meaning, the songs maintain a level of honesty in their approach.
With subtlety a main focus, Audio Out Send set out to record an album that would reveal itself more with each listen. They wanted ".or Does it Explode?" to work as a cohesive piece of music, but still offer a wide variety of moods.
Splitting time between their home studio and Davis, CA based Electron Studios, the album was recorded over a period of 5 months. Recording far from home focused energies within an environment that was isolated from daily rountine and distraction. The process allowed for constant reviewing and refining, and gave the band much needed time for experimentation.
The group, comprised of Jeremy Detamore, Max Diez, Ben Jennings, and Zach Moser, released the album on their own Flashcard Project label. Since it's release, ".or Does it Explode? has been well received, and as a result, Audio Out Send continues to reach wider audiences throughout the US and the UK.
In late summer of 2005, Audio Out Send released the five song EP,
"A Broad Connection". Written and recorded entirely in the bands Oakland,
CA based Flashcard Project Studios, the album is the bands first offering
in almost two years.
The project began with a large collection of songs and the idea of releasing a
second full length as a follow-up to 2003s ".or Does it Explode?"
As the recording progressed, the songs started to group themselves into
smaller, more cohesive pieces. Motivated by the possibilities for variety in
mood and style that come with releasing shorter albums, it ultimately made
more sense for the band to release the collection as a series of EPs.
"A Broad Connection" is the first of many to come.
The music of the new EP picks up where the previous album left off.
Lush, layered instrumentation floats around honest songs, with the main focus
of creating a mood for the listener. Always eager to welcome the use of any and
every instrument or source of noise to add to the mix, "A Broad Connection"
highlights Audio Out Sends love of experimentation while still delivering
grounded and accessible songs
