Bandinfo (deutsch): Auf mittlerweile über 300 Konzerten in ganz Deutschland, aber auch in Österreich, der Schweiz, Tschechien und England können Atomic im Jahr 2012 zurückblicken. Für eine deutsche Gitarrenpop-Band ein Mammutprogramm, mit demsie sich einen mehr als nur soliden Ruf in der deutschen Indie-Gitarren-Szene erarbeitet haben. Und "Indie" und "erarbeitet" sind hier mal ausnahmsweise keine leeren Worthülsen in einem Presseinfo, denn die Band kommt nicht aus HamburgBerlinKölnFrankfurt, sondern aus dem tiefsten Bayerischen Wald und Regensburg, von wo aus sich die beiden Zwillingsbrüder Thomas und Rainer Marschel im Jahr 2000 aufmachten, ihren Traum zu verwirklichen.
Das sie dabei weder auf vorhandene Strukturen noch Kontakte zurückgreifen konnten, war für Atomic immer mehr Ansporn als Hindernis. In bester DIY-Manier legte man los und feierte im Jahr 2002 mit der ersten Veröffentlichung - der EP "The Big Issue" - mehr als nur Achtungserfolge. Das Mini-Album wurde u.a. im NME rezensiert, verkaufte sich via bandeigener Homepage und auf Konzerten in vierstelliger(!) Höhe und legte so den Grundstein für den weiteren Weg der Band, der sie u.a. bis zum Support von Tomte, Madsen und Paul Weller & Gem Archer (Oasis) führte. Weitere Support-Shows mit den Babyshambles, The Charlatans, Sportfreunde Stiller und Kula Shaker konnten im Jahr 2008 verbucht werden.
Nun liegt der Nachfolger "Coming Up From The Streets" des 2005er Debüt Album "Wonderland Boulevard" vor. Eingespielt haben Atomic ihr 2. Album mit neuer Besetzung, zum festen Kern um die beiden Brüder Thomas (vocals) und Rainer Marschel (vocals & guitars) kamen Dominik Teubert (bass), Daniel Mederer (guitars) und Thomas Schedlbauer (drums) hinzu. Das Album wurde im Telstar Studio München produziert, wo beispielsweise bereits die Arctic Monkeys zu Gast für Aufnahmen ihres Debüts waren.
Das neue und bereits dritte Album "Heartbeater" von Atomic wurde am 28.10.2011 veröffentlicht!
Bandinfo (english): ATOMIC can count on quite a following in 2012, having played more than 300 shows not only in their native Germany, but also in Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and England. Given that we are talking about a German guitar pop-band this is a massive achievement which helped them gain a more than solid reputation among German indieheads. Stemming far from the urban centers of Berlin or Hamburg, twin brothers Thomas and Rainer Marschel were raised out in the woods of the Bavarian Forest/Regensburg and started out in 2000 to form a band that would take them places. The fact that ATOMIC could not rely on a weel-established network has always been regarded as a challenge rather than an obstacle. "The Big Issue", their debut release of 2002, proved to be a first success with an ever growing audience. The self distributed mini-album got a well deserved mention in the "NME" and thousands of copies were sold only through online and merchandise sales. For ATOMIC this success eventually caused them to open for the Babyshambles, The Charlatans, Kula Shaker and Paul Weller & Gem Archer (Oasis) on their respective tours of Germany and Austria. After the debut album "Wonderland Boulevard" in 2005, their sophomore effort, entitled "Coming Up From The Streets", strings eleven highly charged and emotionally intense cuts together. From outright rockstomper "Magic Daydream" via symphonic "Something Wonderful" all the way to the groovy "Im A Man", "Coming Up From The Streets" oozes the urge to be heard and loved. The recording of the album in Munich's Telstar Studios, of Arctic Monkeys and The Cribs fame, saw dramatic changes in the line-up: While the bands masterminds Thomas (voc) and Rainer Marschel (voc&g) remained at the helm, Daniel Mederer (g), Dominik Teubert (b) and Thomas Schedlbauer (dr) are all new additions to ATOMIC. They're coming up from the streets – and they're not bound to stop.
The new and already third album called „Heartbeater" by Atomic was released on 28th october 2011.
