Ask the Slave

Ask the Slave, the alleged “brain-stimulating musical perverts”, are releasing their sophomore album The Order of Things.



Formed in 2004 this “Infant Terrible” of the Icelandic music scene is the brain-child of Ragnar Ólafsson (vocals) and Elvar Atli Ævarsson (guitar), blessed with the talents of Valur Guðmundsson (guitar), Engilbert Hauksson (bass) and Hinrik Þór Oliversson (drums), who share their musical vision and appreciation of the “sick” and the “unexpected”.
Their biggest influence being the Theatre of the Absurd, the music of Ask the Slave is truly unique in Iceland: a contemporary avant-rock cocktail, mixed with progressive-influences and a dash of metal. The lyrics all bear a strong message, clearly stated in the “Slave-manifesto”.
Ask the Slave has earned a reputation for putting on mad and energetic live shows, often engaging the audience in different ways. Memorable performances include their appearance at the Eistnaflug Festival in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
