Who am I?
Good question. Well, maybe not good, but definitely understandable.
On the outside, I’m a scrawny young man, flirting with my mid-to-late twenties, with an affinity for a good pair of jeans and a clean white T-shirt. Shoes tend to be a bit of a problem for me, but it’s mainly because of the sock. It always bunches up weird and annoys me approximately 37 minutes after tieing up my sneakers. That’s why I love summer; shoes aren’t required.
What I do is this: I write and sing songs while playing my acoustic guitar. It’s pretty simple, really. After I complete the composing (which takes between 12 - 358 minutes), I enjoy performing them for other people. Usually at a bar, sometimes at a coffee shop. Other times, on very special, rare occasions, I’ll be in a living room, on a couch. (Preferably a Scandinavian style couch, as they tend to be the most comfortable type for sitting and playing and singing all at the same time.)
I write with the intent of honestly capturing moments and feelings with lyrics and melodies; Shamelessly exposing what’s on the inside, whether good or bad, beautiful or ugly, pleasant or nasty.
As a performer, my goal is to convey to my audience the exact passion and emotion I felt as I penned and strummed the song for the first time.
In addition to performing solo, as of late I find myself performing with other people. For example, I’ve been accompanying Miss Lauren Frost on my guitar while she sings her excellent songs.
As for the inside? Well, that’s a bit deeper. Sometimes I’m not even sure what’s going on inside of me. I mean, I took science classes in my formative years, and apparently I have all these organs and bones and nerves and blood and ligaments. However, I’m not convinced. I have some striking evidence that I’m a highly sophisticated robot from the future.
By highly sophisticated, I mean that, while I have the innards of a machine, I also have the ability to experience emotions. I can be extremely moved by the mountains in Colorado. I will laugh out loud while watching Jim pull pranks on Dwight. Idiot drivers frustrate me incredibly. The ending of Apollo 13, when the spaceship finally comes into view after entering the atmosphere; I get all teary eyed with joy every time.
Serious.
Some people find it interesting to explain their beliefs. I suppose, if your beliefs are very important to you, that would make sense. I, on the other hand, enjoy watching people’s curious expression when I throw out nonsensical questions about the supernatural and such. Example- Do you think God is upset when we allow ice cream to melt in the freezer?
I have very strong opinions on such things. None of which I’ll delve into on this particular page. I will, however, do some delving elsewhere. You are more than welcome to delve along, just bring your own delving device.
On another note, contrary to popular belief, I enjoy math.
