‘Arthur Brown Story - Part 1 Interview by Iain McNay
Arthur has recorded many albums over a 50 year period and is best known for his No 1 Worldwide hit ‘Fire.’ He has been a major influence on many successful artists including Alice Cooper, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Gabriel, Iggy Pop and the New York Dolls.
From an early age he roamed the hills near where he lived singing, talking in rhyme and making up poetry. He signed for Track Records where he was co-produced by Kit Lambert and Pete Townsend. After ‘The Crazy World of Arthur Brown’ (which was generally regarded as the first ever concept album) he released three albums as ‘Kingdom Come’ before joining different spiritual communities. He went on to play The Priest in the film version of ‘Tommy;’ appeared on Alan Parson’s ‘Tales of Mystery Of Imagination’ and then did several albums with ex Tangerine Dream member Klaus Schulze.
