I am Angela Dimitriou i was born in the popular suburbs of Athens. From my early years i was deeply in contact, through members of my family, with the Greek music imported by the refugees from Minor Asia, a kind of mixture between rhythms and oriental sounds. Then i started to produce herself in small music joints of Piraeus, Athens port.

At once, my deep voice and the way i was singing well-known songs of the Greek musical tradition astonished and made well-known legends to ask me to work together.

Starting my recording career in 1980, i am considered as one of the most dynamic female Greek singer. my shows and live appearances are catchy and the Lebanese press, after my show in Beyrouth, in 1995, nicknamed me "the Greek Tina Turner".

I am a flexible singer, mixing traditional music with more pop influences. I have worked with great composers, not hesitating to lean myvoice to more experimental sessions. I am also appreciated in my native country for my way to sing the "zeimbekiko", a dance-song quite heavy, on a 9/8 rhythm, mainly danced in a solo manner by men.

In 1997, through the song "Margarites", i hit many Arabian Top-10, becoming the best Greek selling artist in the Arabic language countries. A climax was my show in the Forum of Beyrouth in January of 1998, with Rachid Taha as support act, the day the Ramadan ended, in front of a 10.000 audience. In May 1999, i collaborated with Amr Diab who i admire for his artistry and view on the mixture of Mediterranean music, on my latest album "Kane stin akri" but also on Amr's album "Amarain".

2000 was another smash year for me. my best of album reached triple platinum status in Turkey, in 6 months. All my concerts were sold out in the same country.
