With so many carbon- copy artists and ringtone rappers flooding the music industry, it makes it hard for the fans to find good music. Antonio Slim has arrived to give the people what they want: timeless hip hop."I'm an 80's baby raised in the 90's where you couldn’t come half ass, and I'm here to raise that bar back," says Slim.

The 24 year-old MC (nee' Quinten Pressley) was born and raised in downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina, an area notorious for drugs, crime, prostitution and violence. His mother did what she could to keep him from the lure of the streets. "My moms and steppops had the illest music collection. They had it all, from Marvin Gaye down to LL Cool J. My brother used to play Wu-Tang’s 36 Chambers to death. I actually memorized Inspectah Decks verse from protect ya neck and became fascinated with rhyming words. That’s when I knew rapping was my calling.” It was at age 13, after seeing Jay-Z’s Dead Presidents music video, that he chose rap as a career. From there, he began freestyling against classmates, introducing him to a circle of people who shared similar dreams, specifically, a female MC named Camay. The two teamed up, landing a deal with local Indie label, Uncutt Records, recording their first song, A Million Reasons, for the label’s compilation. With high hopes to finally break into the industry and touring with Kid Capri, the project was dismantled due to creative differences. “I needed the money and the streets were calling. It was either the rap game or the drug game. Since rap wasn’t feeding me, I took the latter.”

Succumbing to lure of the streets, Slim became addicted to the fast money, fly clothes, and all the other things the streets offered, but one must also take the good with the bad. “I saw a few of my friends getting locked-up and some getting killed. Somewhere, in the midst of all that, I still could feel music calling me.”

Slim decided to turn his focus back to rap and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. It was there he dropped the mixtape Murda He Wrote, followed up by his second, Heir to the Throne. He also founded Money Route Entertainment in 2007, and is currently working on his debut album Life’s a Gamble, due out in 2008. His witty wordplay and vivid storytelling makes him a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. “I wanna leave a lasting mark on hip-hop. When you think about me, I want my name to be said amongst the elite.” Slim’s first single “Let Me See Somethin’” and “Pushaman” are available for download.
