The way the guitar feels in your hand. The way a well worn hat fits on the head. The way an old Faces album rings out, as if to scream for an ear. The way an ear keeps to the ground in anticipation for new sounds and the vibration of whats to come.
Anthony Wayne is the new sound.
"Bury Who We Are", the debut from this new sound, is the vibration.
From it's birth in the much beaten streets of Nashville, Bury Who We Are, is a collection of songs. A collection of heartaches. A heartache full of emotion. From the lace falling from the lips of love gone to the gnashing teeth full of hate ready to spray out apologies. This debut is many years in the making and with no time to spare, hit the ground running in September 2009. Recorded in Murfreesboro, TN with the help of Brian Carter at Paradox Productions. Although Anthony played many of the instruments on the debut some help was needed and delivered indeed. With J Hime on bass, Richard Hewett on drums , Jen Gunderman(The Jayhawks, Last Train Home, The Coalmen) on piano/organ and Shawn Byrne on guitar. Mixed by Brain Carter and Anthony Wayne and mastered at Lake Fever by John Baldwin.
Anthony Wayne takes his influence from not only music but time and place and interaction. Growing up on a healthy dose of late 70s rock and missing the 80s and 90s all together, Anthony found his love of the guitar out of necessity; falling second to a voice he knew he had in the written word. "I wrote notebooks and notebooks full of words and phrases and musings on my surroundings. My interactions with people. I was a writer before I learned guitar. The two just married very well."
Much of Anthony Wayne's formal training on the various instruments he has acquired over his twenty years of music making occurred on the road, having shared bills with Soulhat, Kevin McKinney, Big Head Todd and The Monsters, Col. Bruce Hampton, Edgar Winter, Daniel Cage, Alexi Murdoch, The Coalmen, and Flock Of Seagulls. True story. Having played hundreds of shows from large theaters and festivals to small house parties and coffee shops, Anthony has a unique story that is unfolding in his recorded works.
A live record, "Rain and The Road It Left" is soon to be available and work has begun on the follow up to Bury Who We Are.
Anthony is here to stay. He has many things to sing about. Many stories to tell and many ways to help each and every one of us bury who we are to become someone new and really show this world what we are worth.
