Tim Regan is a busy, busy guy. Along with his tenure in two different bands in two different cities -- he's the keyboardist and co-lead singer in the Memphis-based neo-psychedelic outfit Snowglobe and a member of Austin's chipper twee popsters Oh No! Oh My! -- the Memphis, TN-based multi-instrumentalist has his own full-time project, a semi-electronic chamber pop band called Antenna Shoes. Regan started Antenna Shoes in 2005 while on a temporary hiatus from Snowglobe, during which time he also played keyboards on Sparklehorse's Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain. The first Antenna Shoes album, The Generous Gambler, was recorded with Regan handling the majority of instruments, alongside contributions (including strings and brass) from various friends. In order to tour behind the album, Regan put together a stable version of Antenna Shoes featuring himself on vocals and a variety of keyboard instruments, guitarist Luke White, guitarist and second keyboardist Steve Selvidge, trumpeter and flute player Nahshon Benford, bassist Brandon Robertson, and drummer Paul Taylor. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

Tim Regan's versatile workmanship and songwriting skills take center stage under the aegis of his new bag, Antenna Shoes. Songs culled from new inspirations, old dreams and ancient sagas form the backbone of Antenna Shoes' Generous Gambler. Perhaps the lead track, "Open Arms", best reflects Regan's ever-evolving sense of phrasing, splicing conventional aphoristic lyrics with ELO like arrangements; or the near reverie of "Wait," where the song nearly implodes upon itself in a cathartic, ecstatic tidal wave of guitars and vintage synths.

Regan took a sabatical from his other all-consuming project, Memphis' Snowglobe, to live in the Smokey Mountains as the ideal environment to write and record his first proper solo album. Along the way, Regan hooked up with fellow Appalachian Mark Linkus, of national indie stalwarts Sparklehorse, doing piano sessions for Sparklehorse's Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain. After a European tour backing up Holly Williams, grandaughter of the legendary Hank Williams, and a national tour with Austin's next big thing, Oh NO! Oh My!, Regan has now decided the time is right to push Antenna Shoes to the next level and take this project on the road.

Generous Gambler looks you directly in the eyes with a sincerity and forthright honesty that has made Regan the coveted sideman he's become, but you can't spend your entire career just making other people look good! Regan's debut CD pulls no punches, yet the range of emotions offered here affect a warmth and sincerity that commands your attention, listen after listen. -Brad Bailey
