Born in Cameroon and raised in the environs of Paris by a family rooted in its traditions, Ange Fandoh is the fruit of a tree whose seeds have been sown in African traditions and French culture, and in the influences of American music brought over by the tide.<

Writer, composer, performer: this versatile artist is a charismatic woman whose personality manifests both affirming assurance and profound sensitivity.Ange took an interest in all styles of music from the early years of her tender youth; in doing so, she defined – and refined – her own musical culture.

Her wanderlust gave her the incentive to learn numerous languages; her fluency in English proved instrumental in opening the doors to a vast repertoire, both Anglo-American and International in range. In her first group at age fourteen, Ange covered songs by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Myriam Makeba, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Hendrix, and Millie Jackson. Slowly, but surely, her life’s path imposed itself upon her; bestowed with a voice sometimes described as “uterine,” she would be appointed to share this gift through song.

Following this revelation, experiences ensued which initiated Ange to the thrill of performing onstage and the emotional intensity shared in the studio with her Hip-Hop group, “Droles de Dames” (“Charlie’s Angels”), of which she was the lead singer for three years until 1998. She participated in the “Hip-Hopée” album project released through EMI France, for which she leant her voice in covering a song by Mauranne, “Tout pour un seul homme” (“Everything for One Man”).

As a spiritually attuned person, Ange’s interest in Gospel was a natural progression. She became the assistant of Linda Lee Hopkins, the artistic director of “Gospel pour 100 voix” (“Gospel for one hundred Voices”) and “American Gospel Connection,” joining her on tour throughout the whole of France as soloist and conductor.

Ange was able to combine her art with her commitment to helping younger generations through her role as Director of choirs comprised of adolescents from the underprivileged areas of Seine Saint Denis within the framework of the “Banlieues Bleues” (“Blue Suburbs”) Jazz Festival, with the efforts of Ernest Khabir Dawkins, Corey Harris, Abraham Wilson, Troy Poplous.

Now, Ange is finalising her first solo album « New Life », that she produces with Stephane Huguenin.
