The Anemonia vision emerged from the frozen waters the 6th of December 2003 in Montreal, Canada, as Philippe watched his home disintegrate under the fire. He was then filled with a numinous desire of creating a studio album. It would interpret the coldness of a frozen heart, the enchantment of a city park transformed into a magic realm by a lovely witch, the inner warmth which the Garden of Eden can procure at night while being safely naked and everything in between. This album would later be called “Moonlit Numina”.



The band was completed in 2005 and ready to share its mystic raw energy emanating from their music on stage. They released their first demo called “No Looking Back” in October 2005. They also performed in dozens of gigs across the province of Quebec, including the Canadian finals of the Emergenza contest.



The name Anemonia was chosen because sea anemones are beautiful and bizarre looking creatures. They come in many different shapes and colors, they appear to be all soft and pretty but when the human hand touches it, it can burn itself. This represents well the music the band wants to play.



In 2007 coloratura soprano rock singer Cassiopée joined the band after coming back from Kerava, Finland. There, she recorded 3 songs at E-Major Studios (Amorphis, Ensiferum, Almah, Indica) from the album Dark Passion Play by Nightwish when they were looking for a new front woman.



The band then released a demo called “All Yet to be Born” during the same year and performed live with Liva on numerous occasions. In 2008, Anemonia recorded another demo called “Masked for Moonlit Numina” when drummer Nikko Cyr (D.O.H., Dreamcatcher, Atlantica) joined the band.



Anemonia went back into studio the 6th of December 2008 to record the whole album Philippe began to compose 5 years before. The album called “Moonlit Numina” was released the 3rd of October 2009. During the first 6 months the album sold in 14 countries on 4 different continents and had to be reprinted 4 times due to worldwide demands.



Their music appeals to the gothic, atmospheric, symphonic, power and progressive metal’s appreciative ears while never perfectly fitting in any of those categories. They are epic, melodic and metal… explosive and seductive.



The band is now working on their 2nd album, a new EP will come out before 2011 arrives and they desire to share its mystic raw energy emanating from their music on many stages.



Émergeant des eaux glacées le 6 décembre 2003, la vision d’Anemonia apparut alors que la demeure de Philippe s’écroula sous les flammes à Montréal au Canada. Il se laissa ensuite envahir par l’inspiration mordante de créer un album studio. Cet album intepréterait la froideur d’un coeur frigorifié, l’enchantement d’un parc urbain se faisant transformer par une charmante sorcière, le soulagement de se sentir nu en toute sécurité dans le jardin d’Eden la nuit et tout le cheminement entre ces états d’âmes. Cet album s’intitulera plus tard “Moonlit Numina”.



Le groupe fut complété et prêt à partager son énergie musicale mystique et crue en septembre 2005. Leur premier démo intitulé “No Looking Back” sortit en octobre 2005. Ils performèrent aussi sur scène une douzaine de fois à travers la province Québécoise incluant la finale Canadienne du concours Emergenza.



Le nom Anemonia fut choisi puisque les anémones de mer sont de magnifique créatures aux allures inusitées. Elles viennent dans une multitude de différentes couleurs et forms et lorsque la main humaine la touche, elle peut se brûler. Cela représente bien la musique que le groupe désire créer. Anemonia en est la traduction latine.



En 2007, Cassiopée se joint au groupe avec sa voix soprano colorature rock en revenant de Kerava en Finlande. De là elle enregistra 3 chansons au studio E-Major (Amorphis, Ensiferum, Almah, Indica, etc) de l’album Dark Passion Play du groupe Nightwish pendant qu’il recherchait une nouvelle chanteuse.



Le groupe a ensuite sortit un demo intitulé “All yet to be Born” pendant la même année et performa sur scène à différente reprises avec le groupe Liva. Anemonia enregistra un autre démo en 2008 ayant comme titre “Masked for Moonlit Numina” lorsque Nikko Cyr (D.O.H., Dreamcatcher, Atlantica, etc) se joint au groupe.



Anemonia retourna en studio le 6 décembre 2008 afin d’y enregistrer l’album complet que Philippe commença à composer 5 années auparavant. L’album s’intitule “Moonlit Numina” et sortit le 3 octobre 2009. Pendant les 6 premiers mois l’album fut distribué dans 14 pays sur 4 continents et a du se faire réimprimer 4 fois vu la demande mondiale grandissante.



Leur musique plaît aux amateurs de métal symphonique, gothique, power, atmosphérique sans toutefois faire complètement partie de l’un de ces styles. La musique est épique, mélodique et métal… explosive et séductrice.



Le groupe continue son cheminement et prépare présentement son deuxième album, un EP (ou maxi) sortira avant l’arrivée de 2011, et désire partager son énergie musicale mystique et crue sur plusieurs scènes.
