Living in a city like Grand Rapids, you see a lot of bands form all the time. Some bands stick around, and some bands dont. The bands that do are [in most cases] the bands that you wish would stop before they even left the ground. The bands that dont are usually the ones that you find yourself missing. Then there are bands like ADTMF; theyve been around in some way, shape, or form for years - you still love them, and are excited to witness their natural progression.

When they first formed, their goal was to be pretty. As the band progressed, and they started getting comfortable playing together as musicians - and not just friends - thats when the sound started to fully take form.

Comprised of three very talented men, the band took their influences and roots in hardcore and punk and applied them to the typically soft, quiet realm of the indie rock world that bands like the Appleseed Cast and Don Caballero call home. Their music is complex, atmospheric, immediate, and compelling. And with the release of So to say, Not to say, And these are things., ADTMF hopes to show the rest of the world just what Grand Rapids has been experiencing for the past four years.

Im writing this to you not just as a friend of the band, but also as a fan. I am continually surprised and impressed with how they have grown as a band. They truly have that something special that all bands wish they had. The reason why I think they have it is because - first and foremost - this is a group of friends that is above and beyond just being a band - and I think it shows in their music. To make something so intimate and realized, you have to love who you are playing with - or else you are simply going through the motions that your heroes created. ADTMF is truly one of a kind, and I am glad to be a part of the band by just being a fan, let alone a friend. They still - and will continue to - blow my mind, and I think they will with you as well. Thanks.

Reviews:

taken from recoil magazine, volume 6, issue 2. feb 06.:

"Make no mistake, Andydicktracymorganfreeman isn't just one of those write-off-able joke bands, despite their ridiculous celebrity-borrowing name. The band has seriously lush instrumental chops, and this three-song, beautifully recorded EP places them among the upper echelon of area artists making atmospheric, moody music today. Like many bands sans vocalist, guitarist Brian Przybylski commands the most attention with his trembling, echoing, reverb-laced effects rising highest in volume, but what makes ADTMF's sound so solid is their slow build supported by the lumbering work of bassist Billy Bartholomew and drummer Jeff Bolt. Be sure to catch ADTMF live, opening for Copeland Feb. 2 at the Calvin College Fine Arts Center, before they head back into the studio to record another, even more experimental follow-up." -Eric Mitts

taken from Music Is Not Dead online[indierepublican.typepad.com/musicisnotdead/andy], feb 06:

"AndyDickTracyMorganFreeman (aka ADTMF) are here to flex their instrumental muscles with a recently released three song EP entitled "So To Say, Not To Say, And These Are Things" and are currently in the studio creating what is sure to be a monster of a debut album. As they say the proof is in the pudding, so here's a big 'ole six minute spoonfull." -Andy

Jeff, Billy, Brian, and their friend Kevin also play in an indie pop rock band called Bear Hugs.
