Anacron is the living personification of what Hip Hop was intended to be.
This triple-threat rapper/singer/songwriter is truly a modern renaissance artist, and equally amazes as an awesome music producer, composer and arranger, DJ, and breakdancer. A true poet, Anacron’s lyrical content reaches far beyond the standard of today’s hip hop market, introducing a depth of thought into his songs without alienating listeners.
A truly remarkable songwriter, Anacron is capable of crafting memorable hooks and melodies, melding the best elements of today’s pop influence with classic musical structure. Producing music for both himself and numerous other artists and projects, Anacron is able to reshape his approach to fit the project, his amalgamation of live instrumentation and sampling creating a unique backdrop for every song he crafts. This skill translates directly into his highly eclectic DJ sets, in which he has moved nightclub dance floors nationally for over a decade. An avid practitioner of the art of B-boying, he is also a member of L.A. Breakers and Brickheadz, two of the world’s most recognized breakdance crews. Originally marketing himself as a rapper and producer, Anacron gradually incorporated other angles of his multi-faceted creativity as time, and his career, progressed.
Anacron, whose name means “timeless”, first touched down as an artist through independently produced cassette and vinyl releases in the mid-1990’s. A professionally-trained musician since the age of 6, Anacron has lived a life rooted in music and creativity. A former student of the late legendary jazz saxophonist Bill Green, Anacron also studied under working session and scoring musician Brice Martin, earning notable reward from the Charles “Dolo” Coker Jazz Scholarship Foundation. Anacron graduated from Los Angeles’ prestigious Alexander Hamilton Music Academy, where he founded the Peanut Gallery Network, a global coalition of artists dedicated to expressing originality through creativity. Hamilton Music Academy is where he met and collaborated with artists like People Under The Stairs, members of Living Legends, Bad Lucc of Snoop Dogg’s Dubb Union. Around this time was also when The Netherworlds was formed; a group consisting of Anacron, Himself, and former Warner Brothers artist Murs. That union eventually brought forth one of the west coast’s most heralded underground classics, “Pals”; a full-length LP produced entirely by, and featuring vocal performances by Anacron.
Anacron ‘s collaborations over the years have extended through every medium of art that he practices, pairing him with some of the most astounding rappers, singers, DJ’s, musicians, and record producers of this generation. He has recorded, produced, remixed, and/or toured with top-buzzing artists like Citizen King, Ras Kass, Fukadesi, Casual (Heiroglyphics), King Fantastic, DJ Jedi, Sunspot Jonz, DJ Jesse De La Pena, Eligh, Liquid Soul, Molemen, and KV Beats (Denmark).
Musically, Anacron is best known for his casual and conversational yet in-depth lyrical delivery, and his intricately crafted and ingenious instrumental production. Anacron was always a dedicated admirer of versatile artists such as Roy Ayers, Miles Davis, Donny Hathaway, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Arto Lindsay, and Phoenix, and he strives to achieve the same versatility through his recordings over the years. Because of this artistic flexibility, he is regularly compared to some of the most eclectic and consequently most successful Hip Hop artists in the industry; including Will.I.Am, Pharrell Williams, Andre 3000, and even Kanye West, whom he defeated at a Chicago Euphonics rap competition in 1996. Anacron’s creative versatility has even earned him a spotlight as the star of Zubaer Kahn’s documentary film, “Conversation”, which was featured at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Anacron stands out as both a performer and a personality, as portrayed on his 2006 USA Network “Show Us Your Character” campaign feature. With a brief but lucrative career in acting and modeling, he has been featured in numerous television commercials, print ads, fashion shows, and theater productions. Although acting and modeling was never a focus, he still managed to achieve company member status with the edgy Collaboraction theater company, in addition to earning representation from top national agencies Stewart Talent and Linda Jack Talent. Bringing the experience of 15+ years of professional performance experience to the stage and on film, Anacron's live performance is always charismatic, energetic, and engaging. In short -- there is no performer in Hip Hop that is better than this virtual whirlwind of a stage presence.
15 years is a long time for an artist to thrive on nothing more than talent, but Anacron has done just that. Forging through the years by making good music that people want to hear and rocking performances that people do not want to miss; Anacron has evolved into a fully-formed star, finally ready to absorb the spotlight that he has worked so hard for.
With an upcoming project on the monumental Hip Hop label Delicious Vinyl completed and ready for release, current works-in-progress with legendary record producers Jeffrey Weber and Michael Clark (Weberworks), a collaborative track with increasingly popular dubstep troupe South Rakkas Crew, and several other impressively genre-shaping releases looming; the future for Anacron has never been more rooted in promise.
