Amy Sullivan and her backing band The Whiskey Darlings are Americana with a shot of whiskey, some ‘hard travelin’’ and a good dose of ‘pure love’. Amy's filtering and soulful songwriting recall singer/songwriter greats such as Nanci Griffith, Joni Mitchell, Gillian Welch, and Patty Griffin.

Amy Sullivan emerged on the D.C. music scene in 2004 singing with singer/songwriter Ben Hulan. In early 2006 Ben moved to California and opened up room for Amy to find her own voice as a singer/songwriter.

Amy’s desire to stand on her own two feet as a singer/songwriter inspired her to take guitar and songwriting lessons with Shane Hines of Shane Hines and the Trance (www.shanehines.com) to help hone her craft. Shane’s soulful approach to songwriting, his instinctual sense of killer melodies and grooves, not to mention his passion on stage have been (and continue to be) huge influences on Amy’s journey. Recently, Amy has teamed up with friend and Nashville songwriter Donna Britton, and the duo have been writing some kickin songs for the country music market.

Amys debut record All This Time was released in July 2007. Recorded and produced by Kevin Gutierrez at Assembly Line Studios in Vienna, Virginia, All This Time is a collection of lyrically driven, original alt. country songs. Amy solicited the help of many of her musical friends to bring their talent to her music. Some of the featured musicians playing on All This Time: Ben Hulan, Shane Hines, Andy Zipf, Kevin Gutierrez, Loston Harris, Kevin MacIntire, Ann Marie Calhoun, and Fletch Wiley.

In 2007, Amy's song 'What Should Have Been' was awarded an honorable mention in the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest. 'If I Must Fade' was placed in the award-winning indie film Sons of Virginia. Her album All This Time was nomintated for 'Best Country Recording' by the Washington Area Music Association.

2009 was an exciting year for Amy with numerous contest accolades including finalist in the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, finalist in the Cayamo/CIYH video contest, two awards in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and two Wammie nominations for best female country vocalist and best country band.

Amy Joleene Sullivan and the Whiskey Darlings are releasing their first EP Come and Gone Again in early 2010.
