Amoricide was formed in mid 2002 by Chris, and quickly recruited a guitarist by the name of John (John 1 to avoid confusion). Several guitarist auditions later, Josh joined to play lead/rhythm guitar. The band began rehearsing the early songs, like Bloodthirst and Skull Island.
Around the end of 2002 Josh left briefly, after which Angel Hernandez joined the band on drums. Angel added some incredible drumwork and hammered down numerous songs, such as Flood of Sand, Unmarked Grave, and Bleed From the Mouth. Shortly after he joined, his cousin Ivan joined to play guitar and do vocals. In September 2003 Amoricide recorded a demo in the band's jam room, titled Give Me Metal or Give Me Death. It was a five song, very rough-sounding demo including the tracks Unmarked Grave, Bloodthirst, Roboticized, When the First of Many Falls, and Bleed From the Mouth.
The band was gigging fairly frequently, until Ivan announced his departure. Chris took over vocals and the band continued giggins around the Dallas area. Josh rejoined the band in late 2003, after which John left. His cousin Ryan joined briefly as a vocalist, then left the band due to other obligations. Chris took over vocals once again.
In late 2004, the band began the recording sessions for the first full length recording, The Essence of Evil, which was recorded, produced and mixed by Mike T and Sonic Research Lab. It showed a wide diversity in structure, speed, and style, but was all centered on thrash metal, and clocked in at around 45 minutes. As soon as the recording was finished, Angel decided to leave the band. After a long search for a replacement, another John joined the band (John 2) as a drummer. He added even more diversity to the sound with influence from classic prog to death metal. However, he left the band just before they began gigging again.
Shortly before the departure of John 2, yet another John (3) had temporarily joined the band as a rhythm guitarist. It didn't quite work out, so he left the band after a few months. At this point, the band decided to continue on as a three piece (as soon as a drummer was found). A few months later, Josh was introduced to a drummer by the name of Juan (Spanish for John.) Currently he is learning the last of the songs before the band resumes it's plan for either dominating the world or meeting more people named John, whichever comes first.
We have been somewhat off the radar for a little while but we will be releasing our new full length album early this year 2011. It will be titled "Storm of Violence"
