In the Berlin City Palace in 1701 a room was constructed with walls decorated with amber, at the command of the first Prussian King, Friedrich I. In 1716 Friedrich gave the room to the Russian Tsar, Peter the Great, who displayed it in the Catharina Palace in St Petersburg. During the Second World War it was looted by the Germans and brought to Konigsberg. Since then the Amber Room has vanished from the face of the earth, and there are many speculations and theories over what may have happened to it…
