ALX

Alex “ALX” Sabour was born in Tehran, Iran in 1984. Fleeing the war with his family at the age of 1, ALX sought refuge in California where he remained until the age of 14. Due to circumstances ALX was unable to live with his mother, and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark to reunite with the father he had never met.

It was during this period that ALX was introduced to the hardships of drug abuse, mental illness, and criminal lifestyles. This would later become the inspiration that fueled his decade-long career.

For the last 10 years ALX has been synonymous with underground Hip-Hop in Denmark. Starting his career at 15 he began freestyling at various club venues and events. ALX then went on to be runner-up in FightNight 2002 (Scandinavia’s biggest free-style rap battle). ALX released “The Real” 12” (2002), followed up by “The Demo” EP (2003) and “For Your Listening Pleasure” EP (2004). ALX also released 3 Mixtapes entitled “Okayhater vol.1” (2005), “Okayhater vol.2” (2006), and “For the People”(2006).

ALX then branched out into the corporate world creating musical backdrops for companies such as: Counter Strike (Video Game), LEGO, The CPL, TDC, Toys R’ Us, and Saxo Bank. In 2006 ALX also opened ALX Music Group and ALX Music Studios in order to help other independent acts that were struggling to release their music.

In 2006 ALX started working on his debut album entitled “Ambition – this would prove to be a frustrating and prolonged process that would take over 4 years to complete. “Ambition” is to date, one of the most expensive independent Hip-Hop albums to be produced in Denmark. Nevertheless, ALX decided that he would release “Ambition” only via his website (www.alxhiphop.com) and incredibly… for free.

Within the past decade, ALX has sold thousands of records, acquired millions of downloads, performed at countless shows, held hundreds of lectures, and worked with nearly every major Danish Hip-Hop act, producer, and DJ. He has been critically acclaimed and praised by fans and supporters not only in Denmark, but also throughout Europe and the United States. Further more he has been a key figure in the success of various rappers, singers and producers within Scandinavia.

ALX still holds lectures together with Youth Problems Denmark to help kids and teens deal with violence, drug abuse and crime. Together with his company ALX Music Group, ALX uses his music and artists to create opportunities and better the community.

In 2010 ALX decided that “Ambition” would be his final “official” release.
