Every city has a artist or two that is not of the normal standard when it comes to rap for a example what lil wayne is to New Orleans and what T.I. and Ludacris is to the ATL Well that is most definitely what Ila the Great I is to Mobile, AL.

Born Ali Brown in a Harlem hospital Ila came up on the same music as everyone else but with a minor twist. Ila moved to Mobile AL. at the age of 9 and of those nine years in New York city he was inspired to rap by artist such as Rakim, Kool G Rap, and a long list of other east coast rappers but by moving to Mobile those east coast rappers didn’t get much attention down in the south so he was then turned on to the southern sounds of Eight Ball and MJG, U.G.K. , Outkast, and the list goes on and on. By incorporating and blending east coast and down south styles he then became a real sight to see. By his first year in junior high he was already building a name all around the schools and most of the city.

He began winning talent show after talent show and rap battle after rap battle till rap became 90 % of his life. As his grades decreased he found his self back in New York City hopefully to regroup and finish high school but that only made things worst. He then started cutting class at Martin Luther King high just to battle other rappers on and off campus for small and large amounts of money it was never about the money it's just something he was good at and enjoyed doing it. They called him the ‘’Alabama doe boy’’ in NY because he talked real southern but when it came to the battle he always picked up the doe that name didn’t stick for long they then called him ‘’Ila’’ short for illest.

At the age of 17 he dropped out of school and moved back to mobile to pursue his rap career and by the time he reached 18 he and business partner ‘’Dred’’ put out a mix tape in titled ‘’M.O.B’s. Finest’’ which featured the top local artist out of mobile at the time and the young M.C. out shined most if not all artist featured on the mix tape. With a big enough demand ila then dropped his first solo album in titled ‘’Pressure The Streets’’ which sold thousands of copies out of the trunk. Ila has dropped a mix tape (show me the money) and has been featured on a number of compilations and albums since then.

‘’If I had to say who is the best rapper on the gulf coast I would say Ila the Great I he’s a lyricist and I think he has next’’ say’s 93 Blx prime time D.J. Nick at Nite who is responsible for the signing of Rich Boy to Interscope records. Ila is now working on his sophomore album in titled ‘’Meet Ali Brown’’ which is slated for soon release. Ila also has a mix tape he is releasing early this year titled ‘’It Is What It Is’’. Be sure to keep your eyes open for this young gun because he is definitely on the rise and he is a ‘’PROBLEM’’.
