Al Capone JJ aka357mugnum was born and grew up in the township of Gugulethu outside Cape Town, South Africa. Growing in amid the crime and violence of the ghetto JJ found a path threw music under the influence of his Father. He started to DJ in 1999 working with artists like Zoro and Chronic Clan.

JJ quickly made a name on the South African scene since blowing away the crowds at the Mayday concert in Langa in 2003, with his rudeboy style and massive vocal hooks. Proving himself popular with the girls, JJ was then voted as the most popular artist at the “Miss Gugulethu Pagent” after performing his massive single “Gal Suga Plum”.

In 2004 African Dope Records released a compilation CD “African Dope Soundsystem” featuring JJ and also connecting the other best artists from South Africa like ZORO, BLACKDILLINGER, TEBA, CROSBY and CHRONIC CLAN.

In 2005 JJ open for SEED when they hit South Africa on there world tour and then played in one of the biggest festivals in Germany the “Afrika Festival” in Wurzeurg in May 2005, where he shared stage with artists like GENTELMAN, UWE BANTON, MELLOW MARK and GANJAMAN.

In 2006 he toured with African Dope Soundsystem playing in Rototom Sunsplash in Italy. and the LakeSplash in Slovenia, sharing the stage with artists like CAPLETON, LUCIANO, EEK-A-MOUSE, MORGAN HERITAGE. and the World Body Painting Festival in Vienna.

He is now working in Berlin spreading his positive vibes threw soundsystems and clubs. He is a regular MC at Kiki Blofelf, Yaam, Casiopaia and Frystil and he opened a show in Berlin for JAH MASON and GANJAMAN.

In July he started working with Berlin based SAMMY MASOUD and ALDUBB aka SOUNDWARRIORS. Releasing potential of the young MC, Soundworriors recorded and mixed JJ first album title “NO OFFENSE”, it features 18 songs, ranging across the Reggae landscape from Roots Reggae (check “Free Sensimilia/ In Life/ True Rastaman”) to dancehall (check “She Say Me Do It Well/ KYD Story/ Something Special”) and even Hip Hop ( check “Roll High/ Gal”)

The album featured addition riddim tracks from GANJAMAN, IM Music, Big Finger, Jah Soul Jah, and 40 Fyah and Artists featured BLACK KAPPA, ZORO, CRYSTAL AXE and SOULTRAIN

JJ is currently building his own label, called “KYD-RECORDS”, named after KYD native yard 12, the Gugulethu township where JJ grew up. Through his music, he continues his original mission of supporting the ghetto youth of his neighborhood.

JJ also known as Vusumzi Ngubane, has an exciting international musical career to look forward to. This artist’s star starts to shine.
