Originally the idea behind these songs and a few others was to make some basic 4-track recordings. At the time I was playing in more of a rock/shoegazer outfit. Purely by accident I stumbled upon the sublety produced on these tracks, trying to veer far left from the wall of sound ferocity I had been familar recording. So winter came and I loaded up my backpack with a few gadgets guitar in hand and headed off to Europe. I wanted to have sort of Jack Kerouac-guerilla style of recording when a song would hit me.



Did a couple tracks in Dartford, UK and Battersea. One in an Amsterdam hotel another in Frankfurt and some in LA and on the Oregon Coast on the return trip. These songs have been floating around for some time and it seems like everytime I have any sort of gathering esp musicians people are telling me play them. They all have a unique story of wonderlust and were all done without computers or digital processing. But the old skool way with knobs and buttons and more french cigarettes & coffee worth mentioning. With the exception of Scott Fox of Flooded Studios/Crackerbash doing the tape to MP3 transfer.



If some of the recordings sound a bit rough it's probably because the master tapes had fallen outta my pocket more than once going from bus, to plane, from trains.
