"I was pretty excited about seeing Actor/Model on Friday night and I came away delighted by their spectacular performance. Lead singer/guitarist Ricky had so much energy, bouncing around the stage like a kid high on sugar. Their set was littered with psychedelic pop freak-outs and bubblegum goodness, while slower more whimsical moments added beautiful touches to an almost perfect set. It was especially impressive considering their drummer only got to the venue around 12.15am after flying in from Sydney, but he showed no signs of tiredness or fatigue. Ricky’s efforts to heckle the crowd were also pretty funny, telling the crowd they pretty shit compared to their usual Melbourne audience, however no one wanted to take up a fight, instead choosing to stand in silence. Plenty of people were dancing, what more did he want?" - Einstein Music Journal

"Actor/Model are a band that more people should be paying attention to right now. Another three piece from Melbourne armed with guitars, drums and a Roland keyboard; this lo-fi indie pop group were spectacular in their simplicity. Reminiscent of Ben Gibbard’s work as The Postal Service, Ricky French’s vocals on tracks such as My Agent Says are as light as air-popped popcorn. While some comparisons can be made with Sonic Youth, Actor/Model’s music feels more structured while having as much mainstream appeal that an indie-pop band can have. Definitely one act to check out now before they blow up everywhere." - FASTERLOUDER.COM

Gossip About Guys 8.4

"Gossip About Guys is a brilliant five-track EP of catchiness and childish charm without even a whisper of the normal contrived bullshit that comes packaged with the majority of local releases." - PollaroidsofAndroids.com

"An arsenal of heavenly pop hits." - Beat Magazine

"Zoolander perfection. The debut EP by Melbourne’s Actor/Model takes the vainglorious vacuity of a catwalker and fuses it with future-tense Krautrocking intensity." - Shane Moritz, Mess and Noise Magazine

".chord changes that make your heart happily twinge, and a warm harmony soaked sound, this song just gets better and better with every listen, an absolute winner." - Zan Rowe, Triple J Radio

"This local three-piece make an appropriately (for those colder months, at least) moddy clash of wintry '80s British sounds and a definite pop/melody bent. 'I Dot Heart', at over six minutes, is particularly lush and enveloping." - Clem Bastow

"Gossip About Guys displays an alluring uniqueness that could see this lo-fi three-piece propelled into the post-whatever, melodic indie stratospheres." - Nick Clarke, Beat Magazine.
