NEW DIGITAL EP COMING LATE-MARCH, 2009

ACTION PAINTERS ARE BUSY WRITING THEIR FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM, TO BE PRODUCED BY PETER (WAY OUT) WADE.

BIO:

Formed in a frigid Brooklyn basement in 2006, Action Painters are a scraggly band of misfits who practiced hard and won the big game. They play intoxicating power-pop-new-wave-soul that will make you shake your ass and pinch your girlfriend's skittles.

Action Painters have been a Spin.com Band of the Day, a Deli Magazine band of the month, and are hoping to be Miss Universe 2009. Debut CD, Chubby Dancer, is available on itunes. New full-length album coming mid 2009!!!

PRESS:"Action Painters do twinkly heartache with the best of them ("Cold Dead Corner”), and their up-tempo numbers (“Never Say I'm Sorry") are convincingly jagged. It's when they let the excitement of being young and romantic make them dizzy, though, that they excel. Album opener "Absolutely Clear" can't decide whether it wants to be classic rawk or post-punk, so Haslow lets his voice tremble and shake and splits the difference, landing somewhere frenetic and epic and sweet. Buried beneath the artsy fury lies AM radio gold."

"Brooklyn's Action Painters play catchy guitar-synth-power-pop full of happy riffs that will stick in your head longer than the Elmer's glue that crazy Rodney Carroll smeared in your hair in the 2nd Grade.don't listen to Action Painters if you have a cranky neighbor directly downstairs from you like we do. We tapped our toes way too much to this." --OhMyRockness.com

“This catchy, upbeat quintet out of Brooklyn takes huge hooks, pegged twinned guitar lines, catchy choruses, and rubs off the typical overproduced sheen and cosmetic prettiness via its own take on soul grittiness. Ramshackle, dance-friendly indie rock that is refreshingly not readymade for One Tree Hill soundtrack fodder. and boasts a focal-point frontman in guitarist/vocalist Tom Haslow.” --Baltimore City Paper

"Supermarket," the first single off their second album … bounces off the ground like a 25-cent grocery store superball. Lyrics, synths, and tight garage-y guitars collide into a cocktail that tastes like whiskey, coke, and your head hitting the ceiling as you try to jump out of the room. "Supermarket" is one of the best songs of 2008." - 32FtPerSecond

"This is indie college slacker rock at its finest. Rock on!” --MashMusic

“Like a ragged Salvation Army version of Cheap Trick, these pop-rockers have created melodic anthems for the rest of us. These guys manage to be both soulful and exciting at the same time.” --Fordham University’s “The Paper”AP has also been featured artist in/on/at The Village Voice, Deli Magazine, East Village Radio, 5acts.com, BandinBoston, The Aquarian, FatAmpMusic.com, FiddleWhileYouBurn.com, and more.
