Absinthe (Provisoire) is a French band that comes from Montpellier, with a 9 years existence now. Today, all members are living between Montpellier, Paris, and Bruxelles.

Absinthe (Provisoire) recorded his first album at Engine Music Studios in Chicago (Illinois). It was released in October 2003 on the Hydrophonics Label (Montpellier), with a national distribution by Chronowax (Paris).

After a lot of concerts in France, including openings for Godspeed you black emperor!, Cheval de Frise, Party of One or Experience, the band had his second album recorded by Neil Conti (famous drummer of David Bowie, Prefab Sprout.), in his Magic Circle Studio (December 2004, Montpellier). It has been mastered in may 2005 by Daniel Lazerus in the Chace Studios in Los Angeles, and released in 2006 by the french label Distile Records.

They continue to do as most gigs as they could, playing in France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Germany, and Czech Republic. They shared the stage with such bands as The Ex and a lot of great bands from everywhere.

In 2007, they were engaged by Julien Bouffier, the director of the Adesso e Sempre theatre company, to compose and play live the music of his new play "Les Vivants et les Morts", which lasts between 4 and 8 hours (as we play the half or the whole thing at once). You can check it if you wish at www.adessoesempre.com. They toured with the company through France. It took a hell of a time in the life's band.

In march of 2008, unable to wait for a time when they could rehearse and compose, they just went to the Magic Circle Studios to record four days of improvisation. Then, after a few months of lonely editing, overdubbing, and mixing in their houses, the members of Absinthe (Provisoire) met again in Montpellier to listen to what they did on their own. After a short reflexion, they chose what had to be kept, thrown, or reworked and began a new and final mix of the whole thing.

In August of 2008, the mix was stopped by their work on another play, "Baal", from Bretold Brecht, directed by the infamous Mathias Beyler. They then played, in october, as actors in a movie shot by Franck Morand about a dysfunctional rock band (which was really a composition role). This movie should be seen at festivals or maybe on Arte, you'll be informed.

And finally, after a few months of touring with the Adesso e Sempre company for "les Vivants et les Morts", the mix has been definitely finished in Bruxelles in february of 2009.

This new album is composed of three discs which make part of a same unity.

It could be seen as three separate albums which present different aspects of their music and that are related between them, or just as one really long album.

The length can explain in different ways: they’re not really gifted for short songs and they wanted to put in this one all of their musical and emotional aspects. It's far more diverse and close from what they really are than before. It's just music.

So here’s the result: three really different albums which finally make only one.

The whole thing has still to be mastered.

It should be out before the end of the year.
