THE REAL STORY****THE REAL STORY***THE REAL STORY***THE REAL STORY*****

Two italian sisters, from Rome, aged 12 succeeded in an almost impossible mission: THEY STOLE PAUL MCCARTNEY'S 1970 DIARY (THE BEATLES SPLIT UP YEAR) UNDER THE DAYLIGHT IN HIS HOUSE GARDEN IN ST JOHN'S WOOD. .

The fact happened in 1983 when they went in holiday in London with their widowed father, a well known lawyer. The little girls ran out from the hotel to go on a pilgrimage to the Beatles sacred spots, from legendary Abbey Road to Paul's house, but after 20 years THEY REPENTED AND RETURNED THE LANGHAM DIARY, RED COVER, TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER.

May 12th 2003, right after Colosseo concert-event, the two sisters meet for a tea , at Roma Hassler Hotel, SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY: ”NAUGHTY GIRLS!”, IT'S EXACTLY HOW EX – BEATLE WELCOME THEM JOKING , BUT THAN HE THANK THEM :" IT'S AN OBJECT OF GREAT PERSONAL VALUE, REALLY IMPORTANT FOR ME" **********The thieves are Francesca De Fazi, vocalist and rock blues guitarist, and her sister Bianka vocalist, both very talented musicians.

«It was Easter time in London — Francesca recalls — there was some restructuring works going on the house, the gate was left open so we mustered up our courage and went inside. In the backyard garden there was a gazebo with mirror doors and inside some boxes full of things. In one open box we saw the diary. How could we resist that temptation, at 12 years old?”

Since than the diary remained in the De Fazi sisters shelves, between their school books. "at the time WE WERE VERY YOUNG, WE COULDN’T REALLY UNDERDSTAND MUCH OF IT THAN YEARS PASSED, WE REALIZE ITS IMPOTRANCE AS AN HISTORIC DOCUMENT OF HUGE EMOTIONAL VALUE”…not only to Sir Paul McCartney but to an entire generation. It contains drawings and personal notes, telephone numbers, anniversaries and appointments with other Beatles members, along with references to meeting with the press, cartoon and charicatures made by Sir Paul and his first wife, Linda. “ When Linda McCartney passed away, we decided at the first occasion to give it back to him.”

(From F.Zampa “Il Messaggero” newspaper article)

The fact is spotted by world wide press, they’ve been on the front paper pages and on tv news, Italian talk shows and interviewed by international magazines.

But the diary story it’s much more than a mediatic adventure for the “naughty girls”, even if it surely was a funny “moment of glory”.

Since their childhood, music, mostly Beatles’ music, has a vital function: fill the gap left by thier mother before time death, killed by a breast cancer.

It’s easy to understand how Paul Mc Cartney’s diary is for them a much more important object than a simple relic.
