chinesehappy was a melodic indie punk band from the summer of 2003 to the fall of 2007. They tried to live by DIY ethics and make unformulaic music. They played 4 national tours and many basements, halls, clubs and bars around Michigan. They encouraged their audience to combat homophobia, racism, sexism, environmental destruction and classism. That shit was pretty awesome.

If you like their music, you can still contact them here to order some of the cheap merch they have left, or head over to CDBABY.com to get a copy of their CD.

Bear Hands just got reviewed in the August Munkey Brain Fanzine, here is what it says:

"With the exception of the brilliantly chaotic "Rats" this band does a fairly good job at producing catchy pop numbers that are both interesting and relatively easy on the ears. There's even a cover of the Cure's classic "Friday I'm In Love" and it's no doubt an implication of the band's depth and versatility. While there are only six tracks on here Bear Hands proved to be an exceptionally strong effort."

BEAR HANDS IS STILL AVAILABLE AT CDBABY.COM

From Punk Planet 75Chinese Happy-Rampage CD

I fell in love with this terrific Detroit area pop-punk band upon first hearing them when I reviewed their prior full length a couple of years back. This follow up is just as amazing as their debut, with Chinese Happy speeding things up a bit this time around. They capture the energy of early-'90s pop punk while also blending in earlier punk influences, giving their simple songs a vitality few poppy bands possess these days. Rampage is highly recommended for those that miss the '90s pop-punk era. (AE)
