The Inimitable journey of 4ft Pimp

by Oscar Wilde

Having hacked themselves out a name amongst a swell of bands washing across the South East of England, 4ft Pimp are an act that stands out from the rest. Hailing from the Victorian seaside town of Southend-on-Sea, they pay due homage to their heritage; a very gentlemanly rock outfit with pipe in mouth and tongue in cheek, the band are hell-bent on exposing themselves to a populus ill-prepared for the sights and sounds of the estuary's finest.

As musicians, they are an awesome prospect - unashamedly flaunting a technical ability which has been known to leave grown men in tears, and Tony Iommi suitably impressed as to announce them his unsigned band of 2007 on Planet Rock! As Showmen they are blessed with an addictive energy, channelled through their flame-haired front man Greg Kiss and used to devastating effect in inspiring crowds to sing, march and generally go berserk. In 2007, Coke + itunes dubbed 4ft Pimp the best unsigned student band in the UK (with a little help from Eddy Temple-Morris, who hand-picked them from the national bunch to compete in the competition's final at ULU.)

So, counting such men of substance among their fans, and projecting an infectious enthusiasm too little encountered in today's musical climate, it is no wonder that 4ft Pimp never fail to impress.
